At Apple Montessori Schools, learning extends beyond our students. Our educators also make time to practice new skills, deepen their knowledge, and learn from one another—all with the goal of supporting the children in our care.

Our recent Professional Development Day brought that commitment to life through hands-on workshops, real-time lesson demonstrations, and opportunities to put ideas into practice. From early literacy and math to infant communication and parent partnerships, the day focused on the everyday interactions that make a difference in our classrooms, and how we can keep getting better in every area.

On Global Handwashing Day, we're sharing how Apple Montessori Schools teaches practical life lessons and reinforces classroom routines to help children care for themselves, one small step at a time. Getting a tissue, blowing their nose, washing their hands, and helping clean up are everyday tasks—but each takes practice. 🫧🤧

For young children, learning to care for themselves happens one small step at a time. Getting a tissue, blowing their nose, washing their hands, and helping clean up are everyday tasks—but each takes practice. During cold and flu season, these skills become especially useful.

Two children reach for the same material. A friend knocks over a carefully built tower. A disagreement arises over who gets to go first.

For young children, these moments can bring big feelings—and valuable opportunities to practice communicating, listening, and solving problems together.

Conflict Resolution Day invites us to consider how we help children navigate disagreements. At Apple Montessori Schools, that work connects naturally to Montessori’s emphasis on peace, respect, independence, and care for others.

“Let me show you!” 🍎❤️

Bring Your Parent to School Day is a chance for our Apple children to share their classroom world with some of their favorite people!

From demonstrating a favorite Montessori material to sharing classroom routines, children take the lead with pride, confidence, and joy. For parents, it’s a special glimpse into the discoveries, friendships, and everyday moments that help their children grow.

Thank you to our Apple families for learning alongside us and making these moments so meaningful! ✨

When researching schools for your child, you’ll likely come across the word “Montessori.” You may have heard about hands-on learning, mixed-age classrooms, and an emphasis on independence. But what does Montessori mean—and what can you expect from a school that uses the name?

Families sometimes assume that all Montessori schools (or schools using that term) are connected, or offer the same experience. Others wonder how teachers guide children, whether there’s enough structure, or how children balance independent activities with friendships and play.

Let’s explore some common misconceptions, starting with an important distinction that can help your family make a more informed school choice:

Debunking some common myths around Montessori.

A child reads a word independently for the first time. A toddler proudly puts away a classroom material. An infant reaches toward a familiar caregiver with a smile. A kindergartner helps a younger classmate work through a challenge.

These moments may look small, but they represent something extraordinary: children growing in confidence, discovering their abilities, and learning to navigate the world around them. Behind those moments are teachers who offer encouragement, create opportunities, and recognize when a child is ready for the next step.

This World Teachers’ Day, October 5, we’re celebrating the educators at Apple Montessori Schools and the care, creativity, and dedication they bring to their classrooms every day.

A World Teachers' Day tribute to the teachers at Apple Montessori Schools and everywhere!

Each year on September 21, people around the world recognize the International Day of Peace—a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace within ourselves, our communities, and the world. 🤍

At Apple Montessori Schools, peace is more than something we celebrate on one special day. It is an important part of the Montessori philosophy and something children practice throughout the year.

The deadline to enroll your child in TinkRworks and have them join for the first project is fast approaching! Let your director know your child would like to participate by this coming Monday, September 14 so they get in on Pushes, Pulls, & Pins, which will run Oct. 5-Nov. 27.

TinkRworks, offered as an add-on program for children ages 4+, blends science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM) into engaging, project-based experiences that encourage children to build, experiment, invent, and create. More than just a STEAM program, it's an opportunity for children to strengthen their critical thinking, creativity, and confidence while having fun bringing their ideas to life.

A new school year brings fresh routines, new classrooms, and exciting opportunities to grow. It can also be the perfect time to return to the basics and reflect on the purpose behind the learning taking place each day. For families who are new to Montessori, the classroom may look different from what they remember from their own childhood or from other centers they may be visiting. Children may be working independently or in small groups. They may choose an activity from a shelf, carefully carry it to a table or rug, and repeat it several times before returning it to its place. The room feels calm and purposeful, yet there is plenty of movement, conversation, discovery, and joy.

Every part of that experience is intentional. Montessori education is designed around the way children naturally learn, through hands-on exploration, meaningful choices, repetition, and growing independence. Join us for a Montessori refresh now on the blog:

Explore what Montessori education looks like in practice and how it helps children build independence, confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
