Claude Taylor keeps not one, not two, but FOUR different library cards in his wallet—proof of his love of reading and the nurturing environment libraries provide.

“Whenever I travel, even if it’s for a family get-together or an event with friends, I geolocate around the public library and pop in if I get a chance,” Taylor said. “I am a 100 percent library nerd.”

The self-proclaimed ‘library nerd’ prefers non-fiction books, biographies, and memoires. He enjoys reading about the lives of others and discovering shared experiences. He says we all have more in common than we think—even if we don’t carry four library cards.

It’s often said that you have to be the change you want to see in the world. For Bianca Santamaria ’26, that change was accessible yoga for students at Middlesex College.

Bianca, who graduated from Middlesex College with a computer science degree, grew up doing sports and admitted that her favorite part was the pre-game stretches.

“When I played basketball I would always lead the stretches,” said Bianca. “There was one sequence of poses that I watched and would do them all the time, but I never formally followed any instructions. Even to this day I kind of do my own thing.”

Bianca realized her love for yoga – the peace of mind it gives, the connection to one’s body, and the stillness any student with a million tasks on their plate can appreciate. Learn how Bianca turned her love for yoga into an opportunity for Middlesex College students: https://bit.ly/45LsN2E

The Office of Student Life hosted its final Sundae Monday event for one last taste of summer. The rain did not dampen the spirit of the students and employees who gathered inside the College Center to enjoy creating and eating their own delicious ice cream sundae.

The Student Life team is grateful to everyone who helped make each Sundae Monday a success. Be on the lookout for an exciting Fall semester filled with new opportunities to engage with our students and one another.

Middlesex College History Professor Terrence Corrigan reads for both pleasure and educational purposes, always thinking about how he can use what he’s reading in the classroom.

“I tend to do a lot of serious reading. How things might fit into a curriculum is always in the back of my head,” said Corrigan, who is also the director and founder of the Holocaust and Human Rights Center at the College.

He laughs that he has too many books. Some at his home, some at his parents’ house, others at his office. He is a big fan of used books (why pay full price?) and fondly remembers lugging back stacks of books from used bookstores in London.

“I can’t throw out a book to save my life,” Corrigan said. “I feel like if I let it go, I will need to refer back to something, and I fear I won’t be able to do that.”
