We’re happy to highlight Raul Garza, who graduated from UTRGV with an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in 2024 and is now teaching at UTRGV.

As a high school and dual-enrollment teacher, Raul was committed to modeling lifelong learning for his students. Inspired by his time in the classroom and his work with students, he decided to pursue a graduate degree in curriculum and instruction.

For Raul, earning a degree in education felt like a natural next step. His goal was to move into higher education, and his Ed.D. helped him continue growing in the field.

Today, Raul is putting his education and experience into practice as a faculty member at UTRGV.

Alumni Spotlight: Anandita Roy

Anandita Roy, MA in Disaster Studies ’23, knew she wanted a program that connected research with real-world experience, and UTRGV was the perfect fit.

During her time in the program, she gained valuable experience in research, teaching, and disaster preparedness while developing skills she continues to use today.

Now, Anandita works as a Disaster Preparedness Program Representative with the New York State Office of Emergency Management, where she puts that knowledge into action every day.

We’re proud to see all that she’s accomplishing!
