Official Statement from the UTRGV College Republicans

The UTRGV College Republicans were recently invited to attend an event hosted by mayoral candidate Omar Ochoa’s campaign. While we appreciate being included in community discussions, we want to make it absolutely clear: our attendance does not, and cannot, constitute an endorsement.

Our organization does not endorse any candidates in non-partisan local elections. Any claims or suggestions that the UTRGV College Republicans have endorsed Mr. Ochoa are FALSE and misleading, and they misrepresent our club’s position and values.

We take seriously our responsibility to remain neutral in non-partisan races and to ensure that our name and reputation are not used to promote any candidate. We encourage all students to engage in the democratic process, but we will continue to stand for transparency, integrity, and honesty in politics.

The men and women of the Rio Grande Valley Sector mourn the loss of our brother BPPC Jose Martin Rodriguez-Lua, who died in the line of duty on Friday as a result of a tragic vehicle accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and colleagues. May he Rest in Peace. 🛐

People in often talk about our area, although majority Democrat still being conservative and for us not to worry about liberal elitism and or massive socialism but then you learn things like this. Gross and God help us!

I always knew the opposition was more aggressive than usual this past election without going into too much detail but we will not cower, give up or stop the service we give to our community or the tireless work to elect good Republicans into office.
