Our RGV region has officially surpassed 1 MILLION reading minutes! 🎉📚

This is an exciting milestone for our students, families, and campus teams as we continue building a strong culture of reading across the Rio Grande Valley.

Every minute logged represents time our students are spending strengthening their reading skills, discovering new stories, and building habits that can support their success in and beyond the classroom.

We’re incredibly proud of our students for rising to the challenge and thankful for our teachers, staff, and families who continue encouraging them along the way.
And we’re just getting started! 🚀

We’re launching into reading with Beanstack! 🚀📚

This year, Beanstack is replacing Accelerated Reader (AR) as the tool our students will use to track their reading progress. With Beanstack, students will log the minutes they spend reading and watch those minutes add up throughout the school year!

Our students have a goal of reaching 4,000 minutes of reading by the end of the school year. It may sound like a lot, but reaching the goal starts with just 25 minutes of reading a day, five days a week!

And we’re reading toward an even bigger goal together! Across IDEA Public Schools, our district-wide challenge is to reach 5 million minutes of reading by May 7. That’s more than 83,000 hours of reading and could equal nearly 28,000 books!

Families, you can help us reach our goal by encouraging your student to make reading part of their daily routine and reminding them to log their minutes in Beanstack. Whether they read at school, after homework, before bed, or over the weekend, every minute counts!

Strong leaders build strong schools! 💡📚

Last Thursday, our RGV principals and assistant principals came together for a monthly professional development to learn, grow, and collaborate alongside fellow campus leaders.

We know that investing in the growth of our leaders has a direct impact on the students, teachers, and families they serve every day. By creating opportunities to strengthen their leadership, share best practices, and learn from one another, we’re continuing to build stronger campuses across the RGV.

This kickoff officially begins this year’s professional development journey for our principals and assistant principals, and we’re excited for all the learning, collaboration, and growth ahead this school year!

Here’s to growing together and leading with purpose for our students! 💙
