SIAM chapter at UTRGV

SIAM chapter at UTRGV Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. The mission of SIAM is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology.

We are a group of students at UTPA enthusiastic about the beauty and wide applications of mathematics. We: host guest lecturers, present interesting results and applications of mathematics, as well as career opportunities in math, hold competitions, inform you of conferences and fund-raise to travel to one of them, and much more! You don't have to be a Math Major to join! As a matter of fact, mathematics has many applications in other sciences, you could find useful information as you network with other students. How YOU can benefit:

* Community involvement and opportunities for attending conferences.

SIAM is an international community of about 12,000 individual members. Approximately 500 academic, manufacturing, research and development, service and consulting organizations, government, and military organizations worldwide are institutional members. SIAM fosters the development of applied mathematical and computational methodologies needed in these various application areas. Applied mathematics in partnership with computational science is essential in solving many real-world problems. Through publications, research, and community, the mission of SIAM is to build cooperation between mathematics and the worlds of science and technology.
