๐ We love supporting GEAR UP parents with meaningful learning opportunities! During a recent charcuterie workshop, families learned new skills and enjoyed a creative experience together.
When parents feel engaged and supported, they are better equipped to encourage their studentsโ academic growth and future goals.
GEAR UP families are planning ahead for college success. ๐
During a recent family session, parents learned more about the financial side of college, including FAFSA, in-state and out-of-state tuition, living on campus vs. at home and the hidden costs that can come with earning a degree.
By understanding the full cost of attendance and planning early, families are better prepared to support their students through their undergraduate journey. Thank you families for joining us in preparing students for college and careers!

This month we hosted our Unique Learners for a workshop full of growth, accomplishment, and hands-on learning. Students earned their food handler certification and participated in an engaging coffee shop skill-building session โ
We are so proud of their hard work, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn new skills! ๐

Research, leadership and a meaningful spotlight moment. โจ Sharyland ISD junior Matilde Curiel presented research on Understanding Triple-Negative Breast Cancer in Rural Hispanic Communities to representatives from local clinics, DHR Health, UTRGV - The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and other community partners.
Through DHR Healthโs LASER program, Matilde and other participating GEAR UP students gain intensive, hands-on clinical training and mentorship that connects classroom learning to real-world healthcare experiences. Way to represent, Matilde! ๐
