Today was nothing short of inspirational as the CAMIC Center had the visit of Dr. LeMaster , the visionary founder of our College of Engineering and Computer Science
Dr. LeMaster’s visit was not just a momentous occasion but a source of motivation for all our students.
Hispanic Heritage Foundation’s (HHF) 2023 Youth Awards educational grants are now open! This year marks the 25th edition of our Youth Awards, where we will celebrate and award students from the Class of 2024 with grants worth up to $4,000 to fund their higher education journey or fuel their community-based projects.
We are looking for students who have made remarkable achievements in the classroom, made an impact in their communities, and demonstrated excellence across various educational categories. Recipients will be celebrated in a series of virtual ceremonies and will be recognized in the following categories:
Community Service
Education
Engineering
Entrepreneurship & Business
Green Sustainability
Healthcare & Science
Media & Entertainment
Public Service & Social Justice
Technology
Youth Awards applicants and recipients will become part of HHF’s extensive network of over 300,000 professionals and be integrated into its cycle of leadership pipeline, where we meet America's priorities in the classroom and workforce.
To be considered, students must:
Be currently enrolled in high school, graduating in the spring of 2024.
Hold a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or 7.5 on a 10.0 scale.
Enroll at an accredited higher education institution in 2024-2025.
Be of Hispanic heritage (including Spain, Brazil, Philippines).
Attend their virtual ceremony if selected.
The deadline to apply is November 13th, 2023. Interested students can apply online at www.HispanicHeritage.org.

Then we invite you to help the Office of Naval Research plan for the challenges of tomorrow! Naval Horizons introduces students to cutting-edge STEM topics that impact the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. Participants watch lab-produced videos to learn about Naval STEM challenges and the scientists and engineers tackling them. To join the competition, write an essay explaining how our research and people inspire you. This contest challenges students to picture themselves in a STEM career by designing the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps of the future.
Up to 5,000 winners will be selected to receive a $200 cash prize! Exceptional essays will be designated Naval Horizons Highest Honors and highlighted on our web page.

The Engaged Scholarship & Learning (ES&L) Ambassador program awards six to eight scholarships each Fall and Spring. ES&L Ambassador Scholarship recipients will collaborate with ES&L staff to connect classrooms to the community. Recipients will promote ES&L activities through presentations and outreach events, serve as a liaison for the ES&L office, and assist with creating a culture of engagement at the university.

We had the honor and great pleasure of having the U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Research & Engineering, Heidi Shyu, at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley National Manufacturing Expo.
