We're back! Teachers are back this week setting up. We also hosted an open house for students and their families on Thursday and have spent time visiting with each student at home. These pre-conferences give families and teachers an opportunity to meet one on one before school starts and answer parents' questions before sending kids off to school.

Spring has sprung! We’ve been witnessing the signs of spring both inside and out. After observing and measuring flowers grow in our science center the students were thrilled to discover vibrant green sprouts in our play yard garden this week!

C is for chicks. Thanks to one of our students and their family, we enjoyed a special visit before break that brought joy and excitement to our class. The kids were naturally curious and learned from their many questions. What do they eat? How much do they eat? Where do they sleep and How fast will they grow?

We display lots of unique art at preschool, usually works made by our students. Each month, we also display an artwork by our Artist of the Month. The different pieces guide us in talking about color, shape, varieties of art medium, and different techniques. This month, we were inspired by Kandinsky's “Squares with Concentric Circles”. We made our own Valentine version, “Squares with Concentric Hearts”.

Dramatic play or pretend play looks cute and fun but it offers so much more than that. Here are 3 reasons we encourage dramatic play.
1. Pretend play gives an emotional outlet and teaches self regulation.
2 Dramatic play helps children develop creative thinking and story telling abilities.
3. We can teach conflict resolution and problem solving through dramatic play.

A reminder it’s ok to feel anxious, and you are not the alone in the feeling. While us adults maybe having big feelings the children around us sense and feel that too.
Use the clip shared in the comments below to stop scrolling, take a deep breath, and escape for a minute to a place where the air is sweet.

We all face moments when things feel overwhelming, and that’s okay. Remember, you are not alone.
