⚔️💙💛 **NORTHWOOD PTA IS LOOKING FOR OUR NEXT PRESIDENT!** 💛💙⚔️

Have you ever thought about getting more involved at Northwood?

Maybe you're organized. Maybe you're great at bringing people together. Maybe you have ideas. Or maybe you just really care about our kids and our school community.

**You do NOT have to know everything about PTA to be President!**

There are trainings, resources, an entire board to work alongside you, and people ready to help with the transition.

Our PTA President helps keep the team moving in the same direction. Some of the responsibilities include:

⭐ Leading PTA board and general membership meetings
⭐ Helping set meeting agendas and the yearly PTA calendar
⭐ Staying connected with our board, committee chairs, and Northwood administration
⭐ Helping make sure committees have the support they need
⭐ Keeping the PTA on track with Washington State PTA requirements, trainings, and important deadlines
⭐ Sharing PTA programs and information with our Northwood community
⭐ Working **with the board** to make decisions and keep everything running smoothly
⭐ Being a positive voice for Northwood PTA in our community

💡 **And here's something we really want people to know:**

**THE PRESIDENT DOESN'T DO EVERYTHING.**

We have officers, committee chairs, and volunteers responsible for different parts of PTA. The President's job is to help lead the team, communicate, delegate, and make sure we're all working together for our Northwood kids.

🏫 **Meet & Greet (Grades K–5):** 4:00–6:00 PM

We've been busy planning an AMAZING year for our Northwood Knights, and we can't wait to show you what's coming!

Come say hi, meet some of your PTA members, ask questions, learn about upcoming events, and find out all the different ways you can get involved.

🙋 **Want to volunteer?**

We have LOTS of opportunities — and volunteering doesn't mean you have to be available during school hours!

We need help with events, take-home projects, prepping materials, social media, behind-the-scenes work, Popcorn Fridays, programs and so much more.

💙 Have a little time? We can use you.
💛 Have a lot of time? We can DEFINITELY use you. 😂
🏠 Need something you can do from home? We've got that too!

❤️📚 IN MEMORY OF DOLLY PARTON 📚❤️

Today, Northwood PTA joins families around the world in remembering Dolly Parton — an extraordinary artist, humanitarian, and lifelong champion for children.

To many of us, she was a country music legend.

But to millions of children, Dolly was also the lady who sent them books. ❤️

Dolly founded her Imagination Library with a beautiful belief: where a child is born and how much money their family has should never determine whether they grow up surrounded by books.

What began in her hometown grew into a worldwide literacy movement, putting books directly into the hands and homes of millions of children.

And THAT is a legacy worth celebrating. 📚

As parents, teachers, volunteers, and people who love our Northwood kids, we know a book is never just a book.

It's a child learning a new word.

A bedtime story with Mom or Dad.

A kindergarten student realizing, “I can read this!”

A new world opening inside a child's imagination.

And sometimes, it's the beginning of a lifelong love of learning.

Dolly used her enormous success to make sure more children had that opportunity.

Today, we simply want to say:

Thank you, Dolly.

Thank you for believing in children.

Thank you for believing in education.

Thank you for putting millions of books into little hands.

And thank you for showing the world what can happen when success is measured not only by what you accomplish…

but by what you give back. ❤️📚

Your music will be remembered.

But generations of children will carry your legacy, too.

💙💛 **WANT TO HELP NORTHWOOD PTA WITHOUT TAKING ON A HUGE COMMITMENT?** 💛💙

We have a perfect opportunity for you!

⚔️ **Northwood PTA is looking for THREE members to serve on our Nominating Committee!**

Okay… but what exactly does a Nominating Committee do? 😆

It's actually pretty simple!

The Nominating Committee helps find and talk with people who may be a great fit for our elected PTA leadership positions. You'll work together as a small team to:

⭐ Review recommendations and interested candidates
⭐ Talk with potential PTA leaders
⭐ Learn a little about their strengths and experience
⭐ Help determine who is qualified for each elected position
⭐ Present your recommended slate of candidates to our PTA membership

**That's it!**

No running events.
No weekly volunteering at school.
No year-long board position.
And you definitely don't need to be a PTA expert.

This is a **short-term volunteer opportunity** and much of the work can be coordinated around your schedule.

What we DO need are people who care about Northwood, can keep conversations confidential, are fair and open-minded, and want to help make sure our PTA has strong leadership moving forward. 💙

✨ **This is a GREAT way to dip your toes into PTA involvement without jumping straight onto the board.**

Our Nominating Committee consists of **three PTA members and is elected by our membership.**

Meet & Greet is almost here, and we could use some amazing Northwood volunteers to help us pull it all together!

We’re looking for help with:

📦 **SETUP**
Help us get the PTA table ready before families arrive.

💙 **HANG OUT WITH US AT THE PTA TABLE**
Welcome families, hand out information and free waters, help with sign-ups, and point people in the right direction. You do **not** need to be a PTA expert! We’ll be right there with you.

🧹 **BREAKDOWN & CLEANUP**
Help us pack everything up and leave the space looking great when we're done.

Even if you can only help for **part of the time**, we would LOVE to have you!

This is also a really easy way to dip your toes into volunteering at Northwood, meet some other parents, and see what PTA is all about without making a huge commitment. 💛

Have you ever thought about joining the PTA, but immediately thought…

*“I can't commit to meetings.”*

*“I’d love to help, but I need something I can do from home.”*

**WE STILL NEED YOU.** 🫶

Northwood PTA has opportunities to help in SO many different ways, and being involved does **not** mean you have to be at school during school hours.

🏠 Take-home projects
📱 Social media help
✂️ Cutting, sorting & prepping materials
🎉 Helping prepare for events
🍿 Volunteering at school when your schedule allows
💡 Sharing ideas or skills you already have
❤️ And plenty of little jobs that might only take a small amount of your time

Maybe you have an hour once a month. Maybe evenings work better. Maybe you can help from your couch after the kids go to bed. Maybe you want to be at every event.

**There is a place for you.**

The PTA is simply parents, caregivers, teachers and community members working together to make Northwood an even more amazing place for our kids. And the more people who join in, the less work falls on just a few people.

Tuesdays in July, the Fife Library has free lunch, craft, and book from Noon to 1 PM. (Books in English and Spanish). The Library also has Air conditioning on with cooling kits for thise that need them.

The kids section of the library besides having books also has games and coloring pages.

We need at least 30 more volunteers for Field Day. We would love to have more than that if possible. If you are available or know someone who is available please do.

Parents make Field Day work! Each year Northwood looks to parents, families, & community members to help make Field Day happen. Volunteers will help out as stations around the school and classrooms will rotate through activities as the day unfolds. If you would like to help make a special memory for your student this field day please follow the QR code below to let our Field Day Team know you can help out! Ms. Dolgos will be in touch will all individuals who submit the form to volunteer via email. All volunteers must be district approved.
