Mrs. Owens' 3rd Grade Class 2026-2027

08/28/2026

We’ve had a GREAT first week in 3rd grade 🎉

You’re kiddos explored their new classroom, learned school and classroom rules/procedures, practiced teamwork through activities in the room, played on their new playground, got to start using the STEM bins in the mornings, started 3rd grade reading and math, were introduced to their Chromebooks, and of course had some brain breaks and snacks throughout the week (just to name a few things 😅). They’re also doing a great job switching classes already 👏🏼.

I can tell this is an awesome group of students 😄.

Here’s just a few pictures from the first couple days. I’m going to try to update with pictures at least every few weeks.

Have a great weekend!

One more reminder about Field Day tomorrow!

I told the kiddos today, it's NOT an all day event like they're used to (like at White Oak). It's in the afternoon from 1-2:30. We will continue reviewing for our EOGs in the morning. Have a great night!

It was a busy, but fun week!

We had our Speedway to Healthy Walkthrough, read aloud practice in small groups (ask your kiddo about trying out different character voices), end of the Native American unit Pueblo Pottery making, AND Read Across America fun 😊.

Here’s a lot of pics I took throughout the week. Have a great weekend!

Forgot to tell the class to look tonight! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Six planets will align in the night sky on Feb. 28 (Saturday). Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn will be easier to see with the naked eye. Mercury sits low on the horizon, and Uranus and Neptune will require binoculars or a telescope. The best time to view is around an hour after sunset. Look toward the western horizon. If you see a solid, non-blinking light, it's likely a planet. *edit: I mistakenly said Friday instead of Saturday!

Hope everyone is having fun in the snow! Just posting a few reminders here as well:

1. Don’t forget to finish up Solar System Projects
2. Complete Day 1 and Day 2 of the remote packets
3. The Gallery Walk for Solar System projects has been moved to Friday 2/6.

Feel free to share snow pics here if you want ❄️

Last week ended our Norse Mythology/Vikings Unit. We made longships, tested them to see if they would float, and had a snack to go with our theme. It was a fun time!

Now, we’re about to start the Solar System Unit (they are currently doing a space brain break as I post this).

Sharing some pics since I haven’t yet this year 🙈

Today was our tea party celebrating the end of our classic tales unit.

I’m also posting some pics from the first couple weeks of school—sharing our about me bags and some group activities.

It’s been a great start to our year 💜
