Want to age well? Don't neglect your abs. 💯

Strong abdominal muscles help support your spine, improve balance, and make everyday tasks easier, from carrying groceries to getting up off the floor. Building core strength now can help you stay active, capable, and independent later.

Are you actually getting stronger—or just showing up?

At Train Right Fitness, we believe your workouts should have purpose. 🎯

That's why we focus on things like proper technique, progressive overload, range of motion, training consistency, and tracking your progress.

And sometimes, progress isn't just a number on the scale.

It might be:
➡️ Adding weight to an exercise
➡️ Getting an extra rep
➡️ Improving your form
➡️ Moving through a greater range of motion
➡️ Feeling stronger in everyday life

Progress looks different for everyone. Our job is to help you recognize it—and keep moving forward.

Many people think cardio will "kill their gains," but the right amount of cardiovascular training can actually improve your strength training performance. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Cardio helps you recover faster between sets, improve work capacity, and deliver more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles. That means you can train harder, maintain intensity throughout your workouts, and recover better between training sessions. 👏🏻

It also supports heart health, increases endurance, and can help with body composition goals without relying solely on eating less. 💓

Don't choose between lifting and cardio. Train for a stronger body and a healthier life.

✨ August Client of the Month: Debra ✨

Debra has been consistently training with TRF for about three years now (she's not 100% sure, as "time flies when you're lifting things you don't want to lift.") 😂

We give Debra a lot of props 👏🏻 - she realized that strength training was something that she should be doing, even though it wasn't something she really wanted to be doing. She said, "I knew I would only stick with it if someone was expecting me to show up." This is what it's all about!!

When asked what the single biggest benefit she's seen since working with TRF, she responded with, "I am definitely stronger than when I started. More importantly, I've maintained a consistent exercise routine for three years, which is something I know I wouldn't have accomplished on my own." 💯

Debra enjoys the accountability aspect of Train Right Fitness. If it were up to her, she'd find 100 different reasons not to work out. "At TRF, Wyatt makes sure I actually show up and do the work. In every session, I am constantly trying to negotiate shorter intervals and longer recovery periods, but Wyatt seems to consider my complaints part of the workout, not a reason to change it." (And this is why we ALL love Wyatt!)

Favorite exercise: "The last one because then I'm done." (So true!)
Least favorite exercise: "I have always disliked cardio, but at least Wyatt distracts me with witty conversation." (Again, why we ALL love Wyatt!🫶🏻)

Something fun about Debra is that she enjoys cruising with her partner and making handmade greeting cards with her sisters. "Card-making gives me a creative outlet, cruises give me something fun to look forward to, and TRF helps make sure I have the strength and energy to enjoy both."

Debra, we wouldn't have it any other way! Thank you for your loyalty and trust in TRF.🤍 We are here for every step of the way, humorous complaints and all, because let's be real - we don't say train hard, train brief, train right for nothing!!💪🏻

Many people think cardio will "kill their gains," but the right amount of cardiovascular training can actually improve your strength training performance. 🏃🏻‍♀️

When you lift weights, use resistance bands, or perform challenging bodyweight exercises, your muscles experience:

1. Mechanical tension:
- The muscle fibers are placed under load and stretch while producing force.
- This tension is the primary signal that tells the body to adapt by building larger, stronger muscle fibers.

2. Muscle damage:
- Hard training creates small amounts of microscopic damage to muscle tissue.
- During recovery, the body repairs the tissue and adds proteins, making the muscle larger and more resilient.

3. Metabolic stress:
- The "burn" and muscle pump from training create a buildup of metabolites.
- This contributes to cellular signals that support hypertrophy.

❌ Cardio alone isn't enough for optimal health.

While cardio improves cardiovascular fitness, resistance training is what helps you:

• Build muscle
• Get stronger
• Maintain muscle as you age
• Improve bone density
• Move better in daily life

Your body needs both, but don't overlook the power of strength training. 💪
