AI-enabled Tamil Learning Management System by MNTS Tamil School.
Built and tested during the 2025–26 academic year with over 400 students and 50 teachers.
One size does not fit all. Every learner progresses at their own pace across Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Each student has unique strengths and gaps, requiring focused attention and empathetic support.
A student strong in speaking may struggle in writing, or vice versa. Addressing these differences has always been a challenge without individualized learning.
This system enables mastery-based, self-paced learning, guided by teachers and mentors to meet each student’s specific needs.
It is structured through nine learning streams across three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational.
Teachers set proficiency thresholds for each skill. Students receive targeted feedback on their first attempt, then revise and improve until they reach the expected level.
In the interpretive mode, students build comprehension through listening and reading, using IPA or MCQ formats, along with timed phonetic reading challenges that grow with proficiency.
In the presentational mode, students create spoken and written content. Feedback is aligned to ACTFL rubrics, including language function, text type, comprehensibility, and language control. Timed writing tasks and guided peer interactions, such as Voice Traces, strengthen communication skills.
In the interpersonal mode, students engage in real-time two-way communication through speaking and writing. Each interaction provides instant, personalized feedback—made possible through AI.
An Individualized Learning Plan tracks each student’s progress, identifying patterns and targeting grammar and vocabulary for continuous improvement.
This is not a standalone tool, but the result of over 10 years of proficiency-based curriculum, assessment design, and real classroom implementation.
Now available to US Tamil schools for the 2026–27 academic year at $20 per student per year.
The platform includes full access for administrators, teachers, students, and parents, with built-in training and real-time progress tracking.

For generations, Tamil has been passed down through families, and Tamil parents in the United States continue this important tradition.
Traditionally, Tamil learning focused heavily on writing. This approach is still common in second language learning today. However, true language acquisition requires four essential skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
To keep Tamil alive for future generations, students must develop all four skills for real-world communication, especially in today’s digital world.
It is also important to understand the difference between performance and proficiency. Performance is practiced and classroom-based, while proficiency is spontaneous and used in real-life situations.
Proficiency develops through three modes: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational.
A proficiency-based approach builds real-world language ability, supports long-term learning, and helps students earn achievements like the Bilingual Seal and high school credits.

Those who give their time help students rise.
Volunteer teachers are the backbone of community-based Tamil schools. Their time is valuable, and their impact is immeasurable.
But the reality is demanding. One teacher managing hundreds of weekly submissions—grading and giving meaningful feedback to each—is simply not sustainable.
This is where the shift begins.
An AI-powered LMS can instantly evaluate Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing, especially for intermediate levels and above.
What changes? Teachers are no longer overwhelmed by grading. They gain time to mentor, understand each student’s needs, and provide personalized guidance.
Students benefit too. They can correct, retry, and improve until they reach teacher-defined goals, while clearly tracking their proficiency in every skill.
Teachers grow as well—applying ACTFL-based rubrics naturally, without costly or time-consuming training.
The promise is simple: no student left behind in any skill.
And every teacher empowered to make a greater impact.
