GROWING HUMANS NEED JUMPING. AGING HUMANS NEED IT MORE.
This is one of the most valuable things any human can do for their long term physical health.
Plyometric training enhances power, speed and agility.
This is not just an athletic quality. It is a fundamental human capacity that most people stop training the moment organized sport ends. And the body begins to lose it almost immediately after.
Power is the first physical quality we lose with age. It must be trained on purpose. Power declines at a greater rate during aging and is more relevant for functional deterioration than either loss of maximum strength or muscle mass.
The ability to react quickly, catch yourself from a fall, move explosively in any direction is power.
And it disappears faster than strength does if it is not maintained.
Plyometric training has been shown to mitigate or even reverse age related deterioration in neuromuscular function, balance and functional pertormance in older adults.
Young athletes need it to build the foundation.
Older athletes need it to keep what they have built.
