Today we celebrate the mathematical constant π = 3.14 and the beauty of numbers that go on forever. Whether you’re enjoying a slice of pie or solving equations, it’s the perfect day to appreciate a little math!

Math Meet Recap!

A few weekends ago, the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Mathematics Department hosted our 42nd Annual Math Meet! We were excited to welcome so many talented students and schools who competed in five rounds of math exams, including both individual tests and a team test.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated, and thank you to the schools who joined us for this event!

We also want to give a huge thank you to our faculty and student volunteers who gave up part of their weekend to help make the event run smoothly.

A special thank you goes to our Math Meet Chairs and Department Assistant, who have been organizing this event for many years. It’s always rewarding to see all the planning and hard work come together for a successful Math Meet.

We loved hosting this event and are already looking forward to next year February 13th 2027!

The UWEC 42nd Annual Math Meet is almost here, and we’re thrilled to welcome 10+ schools to campus on Saturday, February 21 for a day of competition, collaboration, and math excellence!

Best of luck to all participants! We can’t wait to see your problem-solving skills in action!

Our 41ST Annual Math Meet took place on Saturday, February 15, 2025. Mathematics Department Chair, Dr. Abra Brisbin, welcomed the students and their sponsors from the following high schools: Aquinas, Chippewa Falls, Durand-Arkansaw, Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North, McDonell Catholic, New Richmond, North Cedar Academy, Regis Catholic, River Falls, Spring Lake Park, Stanley-Boyd, Tomah, West Salem. WQOW came out and covered the event.

Local high schoolers compete in UW-Eau Claire mathematics meet High school students across western Wisconsin showed off their math skills on Saturday.

Incoming students Math Springboard could be for you!!

This class will give you the boost you need to test out of Math10/20 or 50 if Chem 105/106 is needed for your degree. Take this class in the summer so you can get started on the math classes for your degree plan in the fall!
