Right Choice Acres and the 2nd year Agronomy students wrapped up harvest today! Students worked long hours, worked together in teams, and learned SO much. It’s been a beautiful fall for harvest, we were lucky to enjoy our learning in these temperatures.
Overall students made some good decisions this year. Yields were above average overall. We thank all of our amazing partners for helping along the way. Special thanks to Tractor Central for the grain cart tractor and awesome combine setup for our corn! It takes a great team to train the generation of agriculture workers!

Every year our Agronomy Management Program partners with Channel Wisconsin to put a soybean plot in at Right Choice Acres. Students learn first hand new seed technologies and what it takes to manage an on-farm plot.
Special thanks to a group of VERY dedicated students for harvesting with us last night and our local Channel Seed Representatives Monica and Patrick.
Patrick is a graduate of our CVTC agriculture programs and continues to help pave the way for our students! CVTC Foundation and Alumni

It’s been a busy for for 2nd year Agronomy Management students at Right Choice Acres. They started harvesting their soybeans.
Dry conditions have taught the students a lot about combine settings and adjustments. Yields have been better than expected for the students. It’s been a busy week but we’ve had great weather and all of the Johnson Tractor Case IH equipment has been running great!

It’s been a busy week at Right Choice Acres. Students started small grain harvest today and almost finished. As in farming plans don’t always work out, a small rain shower put a halt to finishing tonight. Students learned how sensitive small grains can be first hand. That’s farming as they say.
Thanks to Tractor Central for getting us setup with this awesome S780 combine. The students were amazed how well the draper head picked up downed oats and how clean the grain sample was. Impressive machine!

Right Choice Acres was “buzzing” today!
Skylar, a 2nd year Agronomy Management student did some of the teaching today. Skylar owns a drone application business and brought his equipment to spray the corn with fungicide as a protectant at Right Choice Acres.
Matt from the DATCP also came to the field to teach us about the regulations as Skylar was applying. It was a busy day of learning that took a lot of coordinating and preparation but it was worth it to teach and show students how to safely and properly apply using the latest and greatest technology!
Technology and the future of farming all at Right Choice Acres! Special thanks to Matt and Skylar for making this all come together.

Planting green today-in more ways than one! Agronomy students are hard at work at Right Choice Acres getting their corn in the ground. We are planting into standing rye and clover. The goal is to help naturally produce some of the nitrogen the corn will need and conserve moisture later in the season all while building our soil health.
The Tractor Central John Deere tractor and planter are doing a great job planting into the standing rye.

Today our friends and partners from Channel Wisconsin came to help out a soybean plot in for students. This plot is very helpful for our students to learn different seed technologies, hybrids, and the process of managing a sales plot. We appreciate the continued support from Patrick and Monica at Channel.
Fun fact: Patrick is an alumni of our CVTC Agriculture program. He continues to help our students grow and learn and helps provide them hands-on learning opportunities.
