Michael LeMay was awarded the Alumni of the Year award last year. He started the CS program at the age of 15, when he took Dr. Tan’s CS1 class. He graduated with a Ph.D. From UIUC and joined Intel. He has over 100 US patents, starting with his first one with Dr. Tan in his sophomore year. Here is his insightful interview on a panel of Intel experts about software robustness in the wake of AI generated software and hardware solutions.

After 27 years, Dr. Jack Tan has officially retired. He shares that he had a fulfilling and rewarding career, having graduated over thousands of students who are excelling at their careers. I’m sure there are a few of his students that may recall a memorable moment of words that he said in class. I would bet he would enjoy if you had one of those moments and would like to share it with all of us. Dr. Tan plans to keep putting on the miles and traveling with his wife and seeing the world.

After 26 years in the UW System, Michelle will be retiring in a couple of days. The CS department owes Michelle a great debt for the years she has helped students and faculty in their hour of need. Those touched by her kindness and professionalism will remember her with fondness. Her love for her dogs and the stories she tells are legendary. Congratulations on your retirement Michelle.

Congratulations goes out to all the CS students who graduated on Saturday, May 11th. Your future in the computer science is going to lead you to many great things in life.
