Phil Cook is coming home, and he's playing for literacy!

On Friday, September 25, Phil Cook will take the stage at the Masonic Temple in Eau Claire for an evening of music to support Literacy Chippewa Valley. Half of every ticket goes directly to support LCV programming.

Phil grew up in Chippewa Falls and studied at UW-Eau Claire. He was a founding member, along with Justin Vernon, Brad Cook, and Joe Westerlund, of DeYarmond Edison, an Eau Claire band whose members went on to form Bon Iver and Megafaun. Since then he has recorded and toured with Hiss Golden Messenger, Mavis Staples, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and Waxahatchee, among many others.

His latest solo album, Appalachia Borealis, was recorded just outside Eau Claire at April Base and produced by his longtime friend Justin Vernon. The Current calls him one of indie folk's most thoughtful and soulful voices.

We're going back to school!

When the kids go back to school next week on September 1st, join us for our adult English Language Learning (ELL) class at our Eau Claire office

Literacy Chippewa Valley's ELL classes start up again the first day of the Eau Claire school year, and there's a spot for you!

📚 Morning classes: 9:00 to 12:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday
🌙 Evening classes: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday
👶 Free onsite childcare during both morning and evening classes

All classes are completely free. No cost, no fees, no catch.

No registration needed. Just come to our office at 221 W. Madison St. in Eau Claire when class starts and we'll sign you up on the spot.

One heads up: September 1st falls on a Tuesday, so the first week is a short one.

Whether you're just starting out with English or working on reading, writing, and conversation skills you already have, our classes meet you where you are. Come practice with neighbors who are learning right alongside you!

If you know someone who would like to improve their English skills, let them know!

Cuando los niños regresen a la escuela la próxima semana, el 1 de septiembre, acompáñenos en nuestra clase de inglés para adultos (ELL) en nuestra oficina de Eau Claire.

Las clases de inglés de Literacy Chippewa Valley comienzan de nuevo el primer día del año escolar de Eau Claire, ¡y hay lugar para usted!

📚 Clases por la mañana: de 9:00 a.m. a 12:00 del mediodía, de lunes a jueves
🌙 Clases por la noche: de 6:00 a 8:00 p.m., de lunes a jueves

It's almost a new school year!

Join us on Tuesday, September 1st, when our morning English Language Learning (ELL) classes will resume at our Eau Claire office.

Classes will go from 9:00am - 11:00am Monday thru Thursday, with free childcare on site for students with young children. Enrollment is always ongoing, so contact us via email or phone, or just stop on down to the office on the first day of class and get registered!

We're taking a little summer break!

Our DAYTIME English Language Learning classes are off until July 5th.

Evening classes will continue from 6:00PM - 8:00PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. So if you want to continue to attend class and keep your progress going, you can come join us for evening ELL classes!
