An invitation from the northern Illinois groups:
It’s that time of year again!
Please join ISAAPT and CSAAPT for our joint spring meeting at Harper College in Palatine, IL on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28. This year’s theme is Physics Collaborations, and the best part of collaboration is you.
We are excited to feature:
Dr. Lauren Niu presenting “Geometry of Knitting”, complete with hands-on samples
Dr. Caroline Piaulet-Ghorayeb presenting “The Exoplanet Zoo: from cotton candy planets to water worlds and the search for life”
Matt Lowry presenting “Physics Northwest: 40 Years of Collaboration, Community, and Connections Among High School Physics Teachers in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago (plus advice on how you can do it, too!)”
You are also warmly invited to join us Friday morning for an Accessibility Brunch hosted by CSAAPT. Bring a laptop and spend a few focused hours making your materials more accessible alongside colleagues who understand the challenges. Prefer something hands-on? Attend the iOlab workshop.
We hope you’ll consider giving a talk and sharing your ideas and successes. Student presenters are especially encouraged to participate in our student research competition.
Come for a few hours or stay for both days. Reconnect with colleagues, meet new collaborators, and leave with ideas you can use immediately.
Visit our meeting website Illinois Section AAPT - Spring 2026 for registration details or email the Harper College hosts
We can’t wait to collaborate with you!

Dreaming of taking your physics journey further? 💭
The Bell Burnell Graduate Scholarship Fund is now open for applications. This Fund supports graduates from groups currently under-represented in physics to pursue a doctorate - full or part-time.
Whether you’re ready to start your research journey or need support to make it happen, this could be the opportunity that opens the door.
📅 Applications close 19 January 2026
