This week, Gov. Tony Evers and Republican legislative leaders announced a compromise package that includes tax relief and roughly $600 million in additional K–12 school funding. We’re glad to see our lawmakers having real conversations about how to support our students, and any additional investment in WI public schools is a positive step – but the school funding formula is broken, and one-time or limited funds are not a substitute for a sustainable, equitable funding system.
We’re proud to support a landmark lawsuit to demand the legislature address the school funding crisis. Join our effort to advocate for fully funded public schools 📚 www.FundWIPublicSchools.org/join

Teachers, educators, and school administrators across the state are doing heroic work to educate Wisconsin’s children – but every year, they are asked to do more with less and less 📉
72 districts are asking their communities to approve more K-12 funding through referendum this April just to fund basic, essential services. The Wisconsin legislature must fulfill its constitutional obligation and fund WI public schools. Right now, public school districts across Wisconsin are under real financial strain. State funding has not kept pace with the rising costs of educating students – including staffing, transportation, special education, and mental health supports.
Because of this gap, districts are increasingly forced to turn to local referendums just to maintain basic services and avoid cuts. Referendums have become a survival tool, not a long-term solution.
