✅ COPE: Safe. Challenging. Fun.
Keeping our COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) Program safe is our top priority, without losing the challenge that makes it meaningful!
This week, professional third‑party inspections were successfully completed at Camp Phillips and Camp Brunswick, ensuring our climbing walls, zip lines, and low‑ropes courses are ready for the season.
Here’s how we work to keep COPE as safe as possible:
🧗 Multiple Levels of Inspection
-Our volunteer COPE Committee conducts at least two internal inspections of all facilities and equipment each year.
-A professional, third‑party inspection is completed before the summer season.
-The committee reviews the inspection report and completes any required upgrades or improvements before courses open.
🎓 Certified & Trained Staff
-Lead Facilitators are certified at National Camping School at least every five years.
-All other facilitators are certified annually under the direction of our Lead Facilitators.
🔄 Continuous Improvement
Our committee is always reviewing procedures and making updates based on:
-Internal observations
-Scouting America policy changes
-Feedback from professional inspectors
COPE is designed to challenge participants, build confidence, and create unforgettable experiences, all while following rigorous safety practices.
