Emily Berge visited today! What a great way for her to learn from childcare providers, parents and kiddos about what the childcare crisis is like for us right now. Thank you for showing up, Emily!

Today I visited an in home childcare provider to talk about how we can support childcare providers, parents, and kids. I joined the kids for breakfast and some outdoor time. Putting on all the hats, mittens, and boots certainly brought me back to when my kids were little!

Childcare is essential to our economy and our future. Childcare allows parents to attend school, go to work, and start businesses.

As a parent, I know how important childcare is and how expensive it is. And with my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies, I know what kids need to thrive. We must invest in quality childcare so kids get what they need, providers are paid well, and families can afford the care. THIS is the basis of a strong economy and we do this by electing leaders who prioritize our local communities over big money and corporate lobbyists.

💜Ms. Julia's Schoolia and Wisconsin Early Childhood Action Needed hosted two cozy corners this weekend! 💜

The cozy corners allowed for children to have their own space in the midst of the bigger gathering. And for their grownups to have a little extra support so they can talk to each other 🌟

I loved connecting with those of you who stopped by. Looking forward to next time!

Here is a link to submit a comment to request state funding for childcare before it ends in July.

🎉Ms. Julia’s Schoollia is open again after the week lobbying in Madison with Wisconsin Early Childhood ACTION NEEDED🎉

⭐️Since then, there have been two separate bills written in support of child care funding

⭐️And The Secretary of the Department of Children and Families visited a family child care center. He has seen what the funding does for us and the importance of family child care centers in Wisconsin

⭐️And more people than ever know there is a crisis

Stay tuned! ❤️

Child care providers in group centers make $13 per hour WITH funding. Without this funding, it is back down to $10 per hour.

Ms. Julia's Schoolia is closed this week (May 12-16). Last Thursday May8th, the Joint Finance Committee voted no to funding child care in the next budget. The covid relief money we have been getting through Child Care Counts is set to run out in June, with our last payments in July.

25% of child care centers in Wisconsin will close. In addition, most teachers will have to go back to making $10/hour. More classrooms will close. More parents won't be able to go to work. Wisconsin will continue to lose BILLIONS of dollars.

We are in Madison for this week of educating our legislators and rallying for these essential funds. Hope to see you there!

We had a fun time together this past week ❤️ Baby Mylo & Baby John were an adorable duo! Otis was so cute trying to buckle in a baby doll in a high chair. And we had fun playing a game & eating yummy, healthy food 😋

Last week it was very chilly outside & we had fun together while staying toasty warm inside. We adored baby Mylo 👶🏼💗, wore fun gloves, played "flutes," and rode a dragon 🐉 Always so much to do!

We enjoyed staying cozy warm inside this week & had fun playing with some freshly made playdough by Genevieve! The kiddos wanted to have a birthday party so we pretended it was everyone's birthday & made birthday cakes with candles. Zayla poses with her birthday cake. Cyrus was very kind to cut & hand out the pieces. Baby Mylo loves being in the wrap with Julia all snug as a bug in a rug 🥰 And Cyrus had fun putting on a puppet show with the new little theater. It was a great show!
