Lots of bow with the right amount of bow pressure can free the sound, especially in a hall! Here our young cello student (4 years old) works with guest artist Addison Teng in the String Academy masterclass series.

Masterclasses are an important opportunity for students to gain performing experience and receive valuable feedback from faculty and guest artists.

Here Sunny Strings students practice developing a relaxed, tension free bow hold 💛🎻🎶 It’s so easy to squeeze with the thumb! As string players we must constantly remind ourselves and our students to release unnecessary tension in the thumb to balance the bow well when playing.

At String Academy we focus diligently on teaching proper form. Learning a solid foundation in form and basics—especially in the first year of studies—leads to playing with ease and a beautiful tone, and the ability to enjoy learning advanced repertoire in the future!

String Academy performs a youth concert with the theme of “Animals and Dances” at the Eau Claire Public Library. The students performed beautifully, and the children in the audience got to spin, dance, bounce and flutter. It is wonderful to smile and laugh and experience many different emotions and stories through music! Thank you for hosting us and for all who came!
