Strengthening the defense industrial base requires more than advanced technology—it requires a workforce with the practical skills to operate, maintain, and advance it.
Festo Didactic is proud to support the Long Island Defense Manufacturing Initiative, a significant investment in expanding the region’s defense manufacturing capabilities and developing the skilled technical workforce needed for continued growth.
Supported by a $5 million grant from the U.S. Small Business Administration, the initiative will expand hands-on technical training, advanced learning labs, and workforce-development resources—including two Festo-built mobile virtual and augmented reality training vehicles.
These mobile training solutions will help bring practical, industry-relevant learning closer to individuals and employers across the region. The initiative will support skills development in areas such as advanced electrical systems, industrial piping, and welding, while helping Long Island defense manufacturers strengthen their talent pipelines and workforce capabilities.
This collaboration demonstrates how government, education, industry, and workforce-development organizations can work together to address critical skills needs and create pathways into high-demand technical careers.
