SO MUCH JOY performing our Drum & Dance Extravaganza at the Lakewood Renaissance Faire this year!

Our SharqiDance and SharqiBeats Squad will be performing once again at the Lakewood Renaissance Faire, coming up this weekend!
You can catch our shows this Saturday and Sunday, at 11:30am, 3:30pm, and 5:30pm and will feature recorded music group numbers, solos, AND drum solo sets with live drumming by us!

Excited to announce our upcoming Maqam Appreciation and Embodiment for Dancers masterclass with the amazing Sami Abu Shumays!
Dancers, you will NOT want to miss this! Sami has a unique, somatic approach to teaching maqam (the system of melody in Arabic music), that demystifies and simplifies it, making it easier to grasp.
In this highly interactive class Sami will break the melodies down through short call-and-response singing, helping participants embody the maqam through their voices, enabling us to notice and recognize the dramatic changes that happen when one mood transforms into another.
We will also practice dancing to improvisation in the maqam, exploring how we can connect our bodies and emotions to the changes in the maqam.
For dancers local to New Jersey, please come in person to get the full experience! For dancers who are out of state, we will be live streaming on Zoom, so you can join us from anywhere in the world!
No prior music experience or skill is needed, and dancers of all levels are welcome.
