Are you following the latest drama in the Mah Jongg world? Because, of course, we have to have drama. 😂🀄️

Apparently, there’s a push to add a Black Dragon to the game.

Here’s the proposal:

Right now, Soap (the White Dragon) does double duty. It’s the Dragon associated with the Dot suit, AND when a hand calls for a zero, Soap represents zero.

Under the proposed change, a Black Dragon would become the Dragon for the Dot suit. Soap would stay in the game, but it would no longer serve as the Dot Dragon. It would be used strictly as zero.

And while we’re discussing this, I have a question.

Why BLACK?

Why not orange? Why not purple? Why does the new Dragon have to be black? 😂

Apparently, Soap is exhausted.

My next question…

Did Soap SAY they were exhausted? 😂

I understand the argument. Each suit would have its own Dragon, and some people think separating the Dot Dragon from zero would make the game more consistent.

BUT…

Not to sound selfish, but redoing every book, every guide, every graphic, every handout and every way we teach it?

I mean, I’ll do it if I have to. 🤬

But do I WANT to?

No. No, I do not.

And that’s before we even talk about all the Mah Jongg sets we already own. What are we supposed to do with those? Add a tile? Replace one? Put a sticker on one of our beautiful custom tiles? 😳

So yes, at the moment, I’m firmly TEAM LEAVE SOAP ALONE.

But I know there are plenty of people who think adding a Black Dragon makes perfect sense, and I really do want to hear from you.

🐉 TEAM BLACK DRAGON: Give the Dots their own Dragon.

🀄️ TEAM LEAVE SOAP ALONE: Keep the game as it is.
