🌟 The Importance of Tummy Time for Infants 🌟

At Lemon Tree Academy, we make tummy time a daily priority for our infants! 💛

Tummy time is more than just play — it’s an important part of early development. When babies spend supervised time on their tummies, they are building the muscles they need to grow strong and reach exciting milestones.

✨ Why is tummy time so important?
• Strengthens neck, shoulder, and arm muscles
• Helps prevent flat spots on the head
• Builds core strength for rolling, sitting, and crawling
• Encourages sensory exploration
• Supports overall motor development

Following safe sleep guidelines, babies are always placed on their backs to sleep — but during awake and supervised playtime, tummy time helps them safely develop those important skills.

Even just a few minutes at a time throughout the day makes a BIG difference! 💪👶

Little Hands, Big Hearts! ❤️👋
Our toddlers and preschoolers have been busy spreading love this week! 🎨✨ To celebrate Valentine’s Day, our little learners put their creativity to work making handmade cards and packing special snack treats for the wonderful seniors in our local community.
It was a joy to watch them carefully decorate each card, learning that even the smallest gesture can bring a huge smile to someone’s face. We are so proud of our students for showing such kindness and compassion to our elderly neighbors.
A huge thank you to our teachers and families for helping coordinate these special delivery bags! 🍪💌

Groundhog Day fun! 🦫🌤️
Our preschool friends made their predictions and voted on whether the groundhog would see his shadow—and the results are in! 📊✨
Meanwhile, our Toddler Twos got in on the excitement by discovering their own shadows and having a blast exploring them. Such a fun day of learning, voting, and shadow play! 🖤👣

🐾 IT’S HIBERNATION DAY! 🐾
Our little bears are skipping the winter chill and got cozy at Lemon Tree Academy! We traded our casual clothes for PJs and settled in for a day of "winter sleep" and STEM discovery. ❄️💤
Here is how we are celebrated:
🏠 STEM Challenge: We used our STEM skills to engineer the ultimate bear caves! Using marshmallows, toothpicks, and teddy grahams, our builders are learning about structural integrity while creating the perfect cozy dens.
🧊 Chilly Science: To understand how animals stay cool (or cold!) during winter, we enjoyed the delicious taste of popsicles! It’s a tasty way to interpret the freezing temperatures outside from the comfort of our caves.
PJ Party: Maximum comfort is required for a successful hibernation, and our students (and teachers!) nailed the look.

🐧 READY, SET, WADDLE! 🐧
Our classroom turned into a mini Antarctic racetrack today! Our students had a "flippin'" good time using frozen penguins to explore the science of speed and friction. ❄️🏎️
Here’s the "cool" breakdown of our race day:
The Big Race: We used frozen penguin ice blocks (some with tiny popsicle stick handles) to see whose penguin could glide and spin across the "ice rink" the fastest! 🏁

Our childcare families have been living their best winter lives today. If your little ones are enjoying the snow, drop pictures in the comments! 📸 Whether they're catching snowflakes on their tongue or cozying up with cocoa after a long day of play, we want to see!
