Yesterday was Michigan Apple Crunch Day, and to celebrate, our middle school and high school cooks served up a special new treat at breakfast -- apple nachos! In these nachos, apple slices replace tortilla chips and are then topped with yogurt, granola, chocolate chips, and a drizzle of sun butter. They were a huge hit with many of the students, proving that healthy treats can be delicious too! 🍎🍏🍎

Eastpointe has already begun investing in its school facilities. The 2023 bond addressed identified improvements at the four elementary schools, including HVAC, technology infrastructure, security, and site improvements. The November 3 bond proposal addresses the next set of needs, including the proposed 6–12 campus, improvements to the Early Learning Center, and additional updates to aging buildings and infrastructure.

It continues the plan to make better use of existing facilities, address aging systems, and create more consistent learning environments across Eastpointe.

It was wonderful to celebrate our teachers and student of the year at the Eastside Community Chamber's Salute to Excellence last week! It's always a great night to recognize some incredible members of our Shamrock community.

We are so proud of our EHS student of the year, Kelli Morris, and our teachers of the year, Jessica Hohensee, Shannon Schanta, and Matt Tracey. Congratulations again to all of you, and thank you for being shining examples of Shamrock pride! 💚☘️🏆️

There's so much to learn in the first month of kindergarten, and learning how to be a student is a huge part! Even as they practice identifying and writing letters, kindergarten students are learning how to listen to a teacher and follow classroom instructions, take out the right supplies, and find the right page in a book, just like these kindergartners at Forest Park. It's great to see our kindergarten students not just adjusting to school but becoming active learners! ✏️🎉

Air conditioning at Eastpointe High School and the Early Learning Center is one of the major projects included in the November School Improvement Bond Proposal.

Research shows that a consistent, comfortable building climate can have a measurable impact on student achievement. Our most recent bond brought air conditioning to our elementary schools, this proposal would extend that climate control to all of our students, as well as their teachers and staff.

Did you know that Michigan is the 5th largest producer of maple syrup in the United States, producing more than 200,000 gallons of syrup each year? 🥞 Ms. Clark's third grade class at Pleasantview does -- they had a "taste" of Michigan as part of their social studies lessons last week, with a taste of Michigan maple syrup on pancakes!

Michigan studies are the main focus of third grade social studies, including state history, geography, government, and economy -- which includes the many agricultural products made here in our state. It's hard to think of a sweeter way to keep students engaged in social studies!
