Congratulations to Webber Elementary, one of four Richland One schools named Visible Learning Certified Schools. The other recognized schools were John P. Thomas Elementary, Heyward Gibbes Middle, and Hopkins Middle School.

The program is based on research identifying instructional practices with the greatest impact on student achievement and aims to help teachers better understand their effectiveness while empowering students to take greater ownership of their learning. By promoting evidence-based strategies, Visible Learning fosters continuous growth for both teachers and students.

Four Richland One schools have been named Visible Learning Certified Schools. John P. Thomas Elementary, Webber Elementary, Heyward Gibbes Middle and Hopkins Middle schools were recognized during the Visible Learning Conference, which was held July 13-18 in Nashville, Tennessee.

What an amazing first day of school!

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Etta Harrison, Richland One School Commissioner Barbara Weston, Sylvamo, our valued business partner, World Harvest Ministries, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department for helping us welcome our incredible students to the 2026 to 2027 school year.

Your support and presence helped make the first day extra special for our Webber Eagles. We are grateful for the strong partnerships that continue to invest in our students and our school community.

Scoops, Smiles & Conversations with the Superintendent

Join us on Saturday, June 13, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Finlay Park for a fun-filled afternoon with Superintendent Dr. Todd Walker!

Families are invited to enjoy complimentary ice cream, connect with district leaders, and spend quality time together in one of Columbia’s favorite community spaces. Come share ideas, ask questions, and celebrate our school community while exploring the beautifully renovated Finlay Park.
