Hispanic Society of Lafayette (HSL)

Thank you to everyone who made Latinx Heritage Month 2018 such a success. We love hosting event that people look forward to attending and have a great time! Here are some pictures of Noche De Cultura 2018.

This Friday, October 12th, 2018, HSL would be celebrating the closing of the 2018 Latinx Heritage Month by hosting Noche De Cultura filled with music and dancing. Come join us in Lower Atrium (Farinon) at 5:30pm to dance some Bachata and Salsa.

Next Tuesday, October 2nd, 2018, we would be having a screening for Dolores Huerta at 6:30pm in Buck Hall-Landis Cinema (Down the Hill) She is an important activists in American History that doesn't get enough recognition for her work. After the screening, there would also be a talk back to discuss the film.

*We will also be selling our HSL shirts at this event! Each shirt is $7

Second event of the Celebration of Latinx Heritage Month is happening this Thursday September 20, 2018 in Colton Chapel @ 8:00PM.

Join us to welcome Keynote speaker, Javier Avila in his One Man Show, The Trouble With My Name. Join us as Professor Avila sheds light on the American Latino experience with a blend of comedy and poetry.

Tomorrow is the kick-off event for Latinx Heritage Month. Stop by from 4:30pm-9:30pm infront of Hogg Hall for great music ft. The Funktion Sound and free food!

In case you weren't already aware, we are salsa-ing our way straight into Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month! We have a ton of events lined up, and we can't wait to see you there! Feel free to like and share this post with your friends 👍🏼

There will be a general body meeting today at 8p.m. It will take place at 45 McCartney. Also tonight, we will also be holding HSL Club ELECTIONS! Come if you would like to run for a position.

HSLClub will have another general body meeting tomorrow, May 2nd, at 8 pm. The location is TBD. The meeting will cover the topic of mental health in POC communities. We will also hold elections for the new board members, so make sure to show up! If you are interested in joining the HSL board, send us an email and we can follow up with more details.
