Leopards, say hello to Nisan Basciftci ’26. 👋
For Basciftci, who graduated from Lafayette with dual majors in mathematics and economics, a minor in data science, and a concentration in financial policy and analysis—which has recently become a minor at Lafayette—an internship turned into a full-time job offer as a trading analyst on J.P. Morgan's interest rate options desk.
She notes that Lafayette’s small class sizes had a great impact on her career. “Since I’m an international student, I have friends all over the world. Everyone I talk to, they’re shocked by the small class sizes we have and that I know my professors. Getting to know my professors on a personal level allowed me to find a lot of opportunities at school, outside of school, and to have great mentors.“ —Nisan Basciftci ’26
Her advice for future Leopards ⤵︎
“Meet your Lafayette College Gateway Career Center counselor your first year—it’s never too early. It creates a path for you.”

“Don’t be the first person to leave the classroom once a class is done.” Basciftci says it’s important to stay a few minutes to talk to your professors and get to know them. “It’s the start of a connection that can grow immensely throughout your four years at Lafayette.”

There’s a proverb Pannaga Kosaraju ’28 has held close to her heart ❤️ since childhood: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
Inspired by Lafayette’s ‘Why not?’ spirit, the international affairs and economics major aims to understand how geopolitical events affect people and the economy—and to make an impact around the world.
“My biggest interest is educating myself on what’s happening in our world, and merging that with my study of economics to understand how different geopolitical events impact people and the global economy. I want to use that knowledge to help make a difference.” —Pannaga Kosaraju ’28
At Lafayette, she’s found an outlet for those ambitions through Lafayette College Dyer Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship's DYER Fellowship, a four-year program designed to support students in their entrepreneurial endeavors through mentorship, hands-on projects, and networking opportunities.
“An entrepreneur is a risk-taker, someone who problem-solves, and the Dyer Center helped me discover those qualities in myself. It propelled me into being civic-minded, and gave me the tools to give back not only to my community but also globally.”
