Something really awesome for my guitar peoples to check out. I’m a huge fan of hybrid picking, and this is a really masterful demonstration of how tasteful it can be and how versatile it is. Notice how Julian uses his right-hand fingers to occasionally grab an extra note that would be a bit awkward to just strum through. It also allows him to make big jumps across the strings without having to reach his pick over multiple strings at a time.

Phew! It’s been a busy week already. Got three gigs and a whole bunch of music lessons to still get to. Lots of jazz and a little bit of country and 90s rock mixed in. But anyway, I recently got Parsley School Of Music approved for Google Business (and shortly Apple Maps), and I could use some reviews from anybody who would like to help out a local business that is looking to help everyone with their musical studies. Google really seems to like positive reviews on business profiles so it does quite a bit to help us establish ourselves in search results and build our legitimacy. Another student highlight. Fischer Herron has been a bass/music composition student for a loooooong time with Quinn Parsley, and he’s moved up to releasing his ow music in an 8-bit style in the vein of classic NES and Super Nintendo soundtracks. He recently put out an EP of his own music, and you all should absolutely check it out (and maybe throw him a few bucks). Just some of the really unique music we’re trying to help foster here in Easton, MD.

To celebrate the new business starting up, we’re offering a free introductory music lesson for all new students for the rest of the month of July. These lessons can either be in-person in Easton, MD or online via video call. We can cover instruments like guitar, bass, piano, drums, ukulele, mandolin, or banjo. One cool thing we’re testing out with our musicians-in-training is introducing them to doing some videography/audio recording of the music they’ve been working on mastering. With YouTube and TikTok being a huge way that a lot of musicians get discovered and gain traction in their careers, it’s becoming a more and more important skill, and we offer it as another topic we can teach and cover. Here, Donovan is in the process of recording a Deftones cover that should be up for everyone to check out soon.
