The Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 along with the Colonial IU20 Parent Support T.E.A.M. hosted the F2MAX Summer Kick-Off event! Families gathered, connected, and enjoyed fun activities with the kids while learning more about F2MAX.

The Colonial IU20 Parent Support Team offers local support and empowerment for families, while F2MAX is a statewide network of parents and professionals dedicated to changing perceptions about children with diverse needs— empowering families and leading change.

Members of the Colonial IU20 Parent Support T.E.A.M. were excited to participate in a panel discussion at the Career Institute of Technology (CIT).

Teacher Officer Jodi Dannels welcomed families, including Nikki Huggan, Kelly Duque, Julie Liebman, and Caterina Campbell. The event aimed to engage high school students aspiring to become first responders, helping them gain a better understanding of individuals with special needs.

The families introduced themselves and shared stories about their children while offering valuable insights on how to support both verbal and nonverbal individuals with disabilities. This helped first responders learn how to approach them with knowledge, care, and patience. The students were attentive and curious, asking thoughtful questions that highlighted family concerns about their children being misunderstood.

We are very grateful for this partnership with Officer Dannels, which provides families a platform to bridge gaps and strengthen relationships between people with disabilities and first responders. This means more to us than you’ll ever know.

The Colonial IU20 Parent Support T.E.A.M. was proud to sponsor a $100 hole at the Miracle League’s Golf Tournament.

Thanks to Shara Johnson-Mells, Victoria Opthof-Cordaro, Stephanie Turner, Nikki Huggan, and Ronnelle Thomas-Brunswick for your generous donations. Your support allowed us to sponsor a hole, helping children with disabilities experience the joy of playing baseball.
