Hi Friends,
Now that you have seen the blueprint of The Peace Pavilion, I shall explain it to you in detail. We shall take a walk through The Peace Pavilion.
The first thing that we shall see as we enter, is the Spiritual Atrium, which is at the core, both physically and spiritually,
of the entire edifice. All of the walls are filled with sayings of Peace in the original languages & English translations. The ceiling opens up to a skylight which brings light & connection to the natural planet. Simple benches are there for visitors to rest and contemplate the words that they see.
We then move on to the first room - Contributions to the World from each of the planet's societies. Visitors are invited to add the contributions to the betterment of the world by the societies that they represent, or even those that they know of, outside of their own ethnicity. I would like to send a team out to the public to gather this information from the public. Some examples may be the original concept of a Constitution by certain Native American tribes. An East Indian woman answered without pause, "Gandhi, of course". Please think, what important aspects of your ethnic background, or others, can you think of, that made the world better. It's a large question but we can discover the roots of the best of our world. As I contemplate, I think that I might find that the Unitarian Society, of which I was most fortunate to have been raised with, has brought a new universal love & acceptance of all beings. So I would add them. What would you add?
Let us proceed to the second room - The World Game.
Buckminster Fuller, the architect who designed the famous Geodesic Dome, also designed The World Game to be erected in the Dome at the World's Fair. But the U.S. government decided to include General Electric's new appliances instead. So the world lost a very valuable game that introduced participants to the have/have not world that we live in. The World Game Institute still lives on and we can link visitors to it.
Now we continue on to Our Environmental Future
There we will see two paths. I would like to invite our student participants to research the two very different paths that the planet now faces. One path is leading us to the destruction of our beloved planet. The other shows us the many ways that we can avert this tragedy covering the means internationally, nationally, locally, and personally. This should impact viewers to act both globally and locally.
Our final room is the Workshop Area
Here we will hold inter-active workshops in the areas of:
Racism, Agism, Sexism, Abilityism, or, perhaps Equal Rights or Repatriation. This will be a project of the students to decide upon.
The outer perimeter of this Peace Pavilion will exhibit the arts and crafts of various societies at different times, including the foods of that group in the International Cafe.
And, lastly, on the second floor there will be a resource center which will include books, videos, films and other writings of all people concerning peace and justice. (For without justice, there is no peace).
This will be another huge project for our students.
If you have any thoughts, comments, or additional ideas, please write to me here & I shall respond.
I dearly hope that this blueprint will guide you to becoming a part of this ambitious undertaking.
For the only thing that can restore our beloved planet is love. And I invite you to be a part of creating this project of love.
