The Carlos Vega Community Champion Award celebrates a local individual whose actions have benefited the Latino community in the region. Named for the late Holyoke-based community advocate Carlos Vega, who as Executive Director of Nueva Esperanza Inc., a community development corporation, worked tirelessly to expand opportunities for Latinos in housing, education, economic development and cultural expression.

CICD Puerto Rican Parade, Inc. Hartford Chapter is excited to announce the 2024 Spanish Writing Contest! This year's theme is "El lenguaje y la Identidad."

Calling all high school students in the Greater Hartford area to participate and showcase their Spanish writing skills for a chance to win scholarship awards.

Rules:
1. Participants must be currently enrolled in a high school in the Greater Hartford area.
2. Essays should include the student's full name, school name, grade, phone number, and email address.
3. Essays must be written in Spanish.
4. Submission deadline: April 30, 2024.
