There are times a customer will call with what seems is a simple project, like this R***r with a stripped front ejector rod housing screw hole in the barrel that turns out to be a bit more complicated!
The issues with this R***r started long ago with someone wanting a short barrel conversion but lacked the skills or equipment to do it correctly....one shot fired sent the ejector rod housing, eject rod, screw and spring down range! Turns out not only was the tapped screw hole in the barrel way oversized and stripped but also not located properly and everything was held in place with copious amounts of red loctite and a prayer.
Our fix consisted of a turned threaded bushing silver soldered into place, dress backed, ejector rod housing shortened properly so the rear is supported by the frame, also had to shorten the ejector rod and spring to get the most extraction as possible while we were at it we notched the center pin so it can actually be pulled without using pliers all while maintaining an appearance that no one was ever there.
