First week of school info!

Wednesday, August 26 — First Day of School & Cougar Day:7th Grade Students ONLY: Full-day orientation from 7:45 AM to 2:30 PM. Tour the building, meet teachers, and get set up for the school year. (7th Grade Cougar Day window: 7:45 AM – 10:30 AM for parents).

8th & 9th Grade Students: No regular classes on August 26. Students and parents will visit campus for “Cougar Day” 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM to pay fees, take pictures, receive Yondr pouches, and pick up schedules.

Thursday, August 27: First day for Jumpstart 6th Grade Choir students (report to commons upon arrival; class with Mrs. Vandersluis).

Starting this school year, our campus is going phone-free for grades 7–12 using the Yondr Program to foster a focused, distraction-free learning environment! Students will receive their Yondr pouch during Cougar day Aug. 26th.

Key Reminders:

Daily Process: Students lock their powered-off phone in an assigned Yondr pouch upon arrival and unlock it at dismissal.
Daily Responsibility: Pouches must be brought to school daily. If forgotten, students must check their phone in at the office for the day. Lost or damaged pouches incur a $15 replacement fee.
Reaching Your Student: Call the main office to deliver an urgent message or send a message via ParentSquare (accessible on student Chromebooks). Medical accommodations are provided per IEP/504/medical plans.
Policy Violations: Bypassing pouches or using unapproved devices will lead to disciplinary steps and phone confiscation.

Happy Last Day of School, Cougars!
The past 180 days have been filled with excitement, growth, laughter, and joy. This post is just a tiny snapshot of the memories we've made and the experiences we've shared together throughout the year.

Our Sterling 8th-grade boys’ soccer team traveled to Wenatchee to play Orchard Middle School last night. Orchard is currently an undefeated soccer team, & they are very experienced. We lost 3-1. We missed a few goal opportunities. Coach Ramirez had all his players honor & celebrate their mothers during last night's game by taking a Mother’s Day team photo. All the mothers felt appreciated by their sons. Coach Ramirez's coaching philosophy is for all his players to be good students and good athletes, be productive members of society, have good ethics, & to be good family members.

A few weeks ago, the Sterling Hope Squad attended the Youth Behavioral Health Leadership Conference in Waterville. They had the opportunity to connect with community resources and meet other student leaders from around NCW, collaborating on ideas to support youth behavioral health in their schools and communities.
Thank you to Only 7 Seconds and Together For Youth for sponsoring such a meaningful and impactful event—it was a great day! 💙
