🏀 Our students had an exciting and inspiring assembly on Friday with Jim “Basketball” Jones!
Jim amazed the crowd with incredible basketball tricks while sharing an important message about perseverance, teamwork, and believing in yourself. Students were engaged, laughing, and learning throughout the entire presentation.
Thank you, Jim, for visiting our school and inspiring our students to keep practicing, stay positive, and always give their best! 👏

Important Communication - 3/12/25

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well! We would like to remind you that if you plan to dismiss your child early or need to contact the school for any reason, please send us a message through Parent Square. This is especially important today due to ongoing issues with our internet and phone systems, which are currently not functioning properly. You may also send in a written note this morning with your child.

We also want to ask families to please check their phones today. If you notice that a call is coming from an unfamiliar number, we kindly ask that you answer. Our teachers may be using personal devices when reaching out, and sometimes calls may appear as blocked or unknown numbers.

Should you need to contact someone directly, please feel free to message Claudine Nichols, Briana Hanlan, or Jay Pettengill on ParentSquare.

One School, One Book

East Taunton Families,

Our school is about to take part in a very special, community-wide shared reading event called One School, One Book. What book is it? That isTOPSECRET and will be revealed to everyone on Thursday, March 6th. EVERY student AND staff member here at East Taunton Elementary School will receive a copyofthe SAME book! We have selected a title that can be followed, understood, and enjoyed by younger students, but will still captivate older children.

Mrs. Atkinson, Mrs. Greaves, and Mrs. Wunschel, the Title 1 Reading Specialists, are respectfully asking all East Taunton families to make time to read this book aloud as a family between March 6th - 20th. Generally, you will be asked to read for about 15 minutes each night, Monday - Friday, for two weeks. Students will bring home their free copy of the book, a reading schedule, and supporting materials on Thursday, March 6th. Keep your eye out for these materials in your child’s backpack that day!

In school, your child will be invited to answer daily trivia questions to encourage and reward attentive listening. You will soon find that your child will take pride in knowing and anticipating the details of the story. In class, students will explore the book through activities and discussion.

We hope that you will enjoy this special reading time with your children. When a whole school reads a book, there’s a lot to talk about. With your help, we can build a community of readers at East Taunton Elementary School.

Updates and information will be shared throughout the program via the Parent Square App and a Google Classroom. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Atkinson, Mrs. Greaves, or Mrs. Wunschel at any time if you have questions or concerns. Thank you in advance for your support.

🎉✨ Time Change for the “Lucky to Have You” Dance! ✨🎉
Heads up! We’ve made a small change to the dance times for our Lucky to Have You Dance. It will now be from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm for Pre-K -1st grade and 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm for grades 2 - 4! 💃🕺
The good news? You’ll be getting all the details sent home today! So keep an eye out for that info! 👀📲

Kids Heart Challenge donations are due by Friday, 2/14! Please make your final online donations, make one more push for donations, and ask donors if their companies match donations. We’re having a blast getting healthier and helping kids with special hearts!

We also want to recognize those students who completed Finn’s Mission and earned their superhero cape. Students who earned the cape may wear them to school this Friday and we will recognize them in a special way. Thank you to all students who registered, collected donations, completed Finn’s Mission, and learned about heart health in PE classes. Every student in our school has made a difference!
