Soundmine Recording Academy offers a ten-week course ideal for beginner through intermediate audio engineers who want to improve technique and sound quality for professional recordings and mixes. After ten sessions, you will receive more significant learning experiences at Soundmine Recording assisting with real projects. Sample Course Outline
Week 1: Introduction to the Studio – Facility, Acoustics, and Studio Design. Week 2: Microphones – Dynamics, Condensers, Tube Mics, Placement Demo
Week 3: The Gear – Console, Preamps, EQ’s, Compressors. Week 4: ProTools – Hardware/Software, Converters, HD Cards, I/O’s, Basics. Week 5: ProTools – Overview and Demonstration Recording Session. Week 6: Tracking Sessions – Demo: Do a practice session. Week 7: Student Tracking Session - Do a FULL tracking session. Week 8: Mixing Sessions – Demo: Edit, Mix (Group, EQ, Compress, Effects)
Week 9: Student Mixing Sessions – Do a FULL mixing session. Week 10: Mix review, Q&A, Designing and expanding your own studio and career. Length: One 3 hour session each Sunday and Monday night from 6 pm – 9 pm for 10 weeks and two 3 hours sessions (times to be arranged between student and instructor) recording, mixing, and mastering a band and/or artist. Requirements: Students must be at least 18 years of age and have some basic recording experience.
