The Laurel Hill School The Laurel Hill School is a vibrant learning community dedicated both to excellence in education and to improving the quality of individual student life.

The Laurel Hill School is a recognized New York State private school located in East Setauket in Long Island's western Suffolk County. Laurel Hill offers educationally enriched day care in its Preschool toddler, nursery and pre-kindergarten programs. Kindergarten, and elementary school grades from first through fifth grade shape LHS' Primary School. The Middle School includes sixth, seventh and eighth grades. STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Every grade at Laurel Hill employs a small-class size model to enable close student and teacher interaction, promote individualized studies, and to encourage independent learning. An educational assistant is assigned to each class. Classes also visit specialists – teachers who instruct in one discipline such as physical education, languages, computers and technology, and more. Laurel Hill advocates a partnership in education between parents, students, teachers, and administrators. LHS encourages parents to share their thoughts and insights and to work in friendship with their childrens’ teachers. There are also many ways to be involved in the daily life of the school. We are looking back at two poignant pages from our 2002–2003 yearbook, capturing our September 11th Ceremony held on campus in September 2002.

One year after the events of 9/11, our students and staff gathered in unity to honor the victims, salute the incredible heroes, and reflect on the strength of our community. These pages highlight a deeply moving moment in our history—one that laid the groundwork for our official Circle of Peace Memorial, which would be dedicated the following year in November 2003.

As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11, the spirit of compassion, remembrance, and togetherness shown on that day continues to define who we are.
