We had a wonderful Walk, Ride & Roll to School Day at Oak Ridge today! It was so much fun seeing our students arrive by bike, scooter, on foot, and in all sorts of creative ways. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to the Sandwich Recreation Department, Sandwich Police Department, and Sandwich Fire Department for joining us and, most importantly, for helping keep our students safe on their way to school every day!

And we had a special guest appearance from Smokey Bear! 🐻🔥 Smokey was a huge hit with the kids and definitely added some extra excitement to the morning!

We are excited to host our fall Walk, Ride, and Roll to School day TOMORROW! Please join us!

Event Date: Thursday, October 8th
Meeting Location: Corpus Christi Parish (first parking lot on the left upon arrival)
Staff Arrival Time: 7:00 AM
Student & Family Arrival: 7:15 AM
Departure Time: No later than 7:30 AM

Our Oak Ridge admin team took our registration efforts outside yesterday, meeting families at dismissal and encouraging parents and guardians to get their students registered for the Fun Run! We are so excited to see this event come together and can already feel the excitement building!

A huge THANK YOU to the Sandwich Elementary PTA for getting this amazing event going! We are so grateful for all the time, energy, and enthusiasm you are putting into making the Fun Run a special experience for our students and our school community.

Now, it’s time to get registered and get ready to RUN! 🎉🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Two wonderful learning experiences at Oak Ridge last week! 📚✨

Mrs. Hunt’s class stepped into the past with a hands-on experience using older cameras that used real film. The activity helped students better understand a detail from their book when the protagonist referred to “negatives.” Seeing and handling the cameras made that unfamiliar word and concept come to life in a way that a definition alone never could.

Then, Mrs. Rider’s class brought a little whimsy to their reading experience by gathering around decorative campfires in the classroom to read their traditional tales. The cozy setting made reading feel like an adventure and created such a fun atmosphere for students to share their stories.

These are the kinds of learning experiences that make us smile: books coming to life, curiosity being sparked, and students making meaningful connections between what they read and the world around them. 💙📚

Today, we had one of our favorite mornings of the year: the annual visit from our wonderful second grade teachers from Forestdale!

There were so many happy faces as students spotted their former teachers and immediately ran over to say hello. It was the perfect way to start the morning at Oak Ridge! 🥰

Our 3rd graders are always delighted to see their teachers from last year. And the sweetest part? Watching our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders reconnect with teachers they had a few years ago. The excitement, hugs, smiles, and stories were a beautiful reminder that the connections made in your early school years last!

We are so grateful to our Forestdale teachers for continuing this wonderful tradition each year! What a wonderful way to start the day! We loved having you at Oak Ridge! 🥰

There was a lot of excitement on Friday as students anticipated this weekend's storm! At dismissal, these friends had fun pretending to be blown away! 😂🌪️

Now that the wind has settled down, we hope everyone weathered the storm safely and is doing okay. We can’t wait to see everyone back at Oak Ridge on Monday! 💙

*Consider sending in an extra pair of shoes and socks with your student tomorrow- even in sixth grade puddle jumping can be very tempting!

Mrs. Mills’s class proudly shared their scientific sketches of frogs! Students carefully observed, accurately labeled, and precisely rendered the details of frog anatomy. Their sketches show incredible attention to detail and care in communicating what they learned. We are so impressed by these young scientists and the thoughtful work they put into their learning! 🐸💙

This is just the first glimpse of something very special happening at Oak Ridge...

Our students are taking time to share notes with teachers who have made a specific and meaningful impact on their lives. These messages are a beautiful reminder that the work our teachers do every day matters, and that students notice.

We are so grateful for the tremendous impact our teachers have on our students. Thank you for making a difference every single day! 💙🍎✨
