I recently sprouted lentils for my chickens. It was surprisingly easy and the kids enjoyed feeding the hens a special snack.

When I serve kids hot chocolate, I like to start with these kid-sized Wildini mugs.

1) Fill halfway with hot water/milk
2) Stir in half a packet of cocoa mix
3) Fill rest of cup with cold water/milk

It’s more like “warm” chocolate which is safer for little kids.

Salt Dough Ornaments are a fun, easy craft for Wednesday Half days.

Recipe:

1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
1/4 cup water

Mix, roll, cut dough and bake on low. Then paint or glue on glitter.

So you are pulling out your holiday decorations and that lighted greenery won’t light or you are going through your childrens’ toys and that doll won’t talk. Check for corrosion on the battery terminals and use a q-tip coated in lemon/lime juice to swipe the terminals, then let dry before popping the new batteries in. Often it works right away. Sometimes, for reasons I don’t understand, an hour later. If it’s still not working the next day, I toss it. Of course, be careful to avoid skin contact with corroded batteries. I hope this saves a toy or two for a greener planet. It just saved my light up greenery 🙂

New feathers cut and ready for our child care’s “Turkey on the Table” tradition. Children write (with help, if needed) what they are thankful for. Each year we enjoy looking back at the prior year’s feathers. Then Ms. Katie makes a food bank donation in the spirit of giving back.
