Please follow and share our new page!
In an ongoing effort to regain control over our page we are switching to this page moving forward and unfortunately abandoning the original page Teamsters Local 251 Driving School one. There will be no further updates to that page and any kind of communication will be here. Everything will remain the same and everything that we have done in the past on that page will be found here. The only difference is the apostrophe in Teamsters. Be sure to like the page and share this.

**PLEASE READ**
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS FACEBOOK PAGE**
Due to a technical glitch after reganing access to the Driving School's page after two months we have decided to recreate another page, same name just with an apostrophe;
Teamster's Local 251 Driving School
We are hopeful that we can merge the two pages without losing anything. While this can't be guaranteed we are going to try. Unfortunately with no way to contact a person at Facebook it's all we have. If this does not work and we get permanently locked out of our page again, please go to our website as we will not be able to respond to the page.

Just as promised late last night! We are going to be somewhat working our way backwards over the next few days in recognizing all of our recent grads!
Huge congrats to Rick Parenteau in successfully completing his training here at the school. He takes the notoriaty for being the final participant of our program that was ELDT exempt. As a Real Jobs RI participant, Teamster member, Rick was able to train here at the school to change career paths and change his life. Everyone here at the Driving School wants to wish him the best of luck in his new career and we can't wait to see him on the road real soon!

We are back online!!
After a huge hiatus and the Director's account being spammed back in mid July and blocking access to our buisness profile, we are back!! We have totally missed putting up the graduation pictures of those recent completions of the program and there are alot of them! We will be sharing them all in the coming days. While we hope that this isn't a fluke and we will be able to maintain access to our page we also have been very busy completely overhauling our website,
www.teamsters251drivers.com
Take a moment to go check it out and tell us what you think. We are adding a ton more to the site but we have updated the schedule of events along with having the ability to reserve a DOT medical card appointment, ELDT Hazmat Training (for active Teamster members and trainees, free of charge) and the ability to reserve a training start date (if all the requirements are met). We continually try to elevate the school and if there is something that you think we should add or do, let us know!

Congratulations to another one of our members who upgraded from the CDL-B to A license through the Real jobs program, Rupert Bassaragh! Rupert was able to successfully complete on his first attempt!
Everyone at the school wants to wish him the best of luck in the future and we can't wait to see him driving and working on our local roadways.

Another great way to end the week!
Huge congrats to Real Jobs RI participant Teamster members, Ryan Shorte and Kwaku Annan for completing not only the ELDT curriculum but also obtaining their CDL's on the first try!
The director, staff and active trainees want to wish them nothing but the best in the future and we all can't wait to see them not only working but driving their rigs in our local communities!

Hazmat Friday!
This is the first of a monthly hazmat training that we will be doing for our members in compliance with the Entry Level Driver Training on a monthly basis. For those members that require training for the hazmat endorsement who have never had one before, keep an eye out for our schedule that will be released in the coming days. The training is for about 3.5 to 4 hours and will cover all the basics to safely transport hazardous materials. This training is free for active members.

Another milestone!
After years hard work and determination the driving school was recognized for just that, hard work and determination and seeing that we continually train some of the most qualified CDL-A Teamster members in Rhode Island!
Last night we were proud to receive the Industry Impact Award from the Governor's Workforce board that recognized our commitment to delivering safe, high quality workforce training for Rhode Island's trucking industry.
Teamsters have and will continue to set the standard.
06/24/2022
The driving school trainers participated in a train the trainer class today for reasonable suspicion in accordance with the FMCSA that yet again elevates the high standards we already have for our Teamster trainees.
We want to thank our on site nurse Christine Kile for putting this together and certifying our trainers.

The Driving School is putting the finishing touches on our Hazmat curriculum tentatively set to roll out July 1st. This training will be included for all active 251 member trainees and free to active 251 members that are in the industry that may need the endorsement training.
Keep an eye out for the official announcement as there will be an official schedule released as this training will be held once a month and will require those that are interested to sign a list for each session.
Q: If I have had a CDL in the past and want to add the H endorsement, do I need to complete entry-level driver training?
A: Drivers with a current or previously-held CDL only need to complete the H endorsement entry-level driver training before taking the H endorsement knowledge test.

Right on schedule!
Huge congratulations to Jeff Thomas, one of our brothers who works for Mondelez/Nabisco in N Smithfield RI!
Through the Real Jobs RI grant we have expanded our outreach and will be training all of those drivers at Nabisco that need to upgrade or obtain their CDL licenses.
As always we want to the the RI DLT, Real Jobs RI team, and the administration of Teamsters Local 251. We would also be remiss to fail and mention 251's Business Agent who represents Mondelez, Steve Fredette in helping to secure this opportunity for those drivers (including Jeff) who will benefit through out trainig here at the school.
Everyone here including the Director, staff and active trainees want to wish Jeff the best in his future and look forward to see him on our LOCAL roadways in the very near future!!
If you or someone you know would like more information on how to go about getting a CDL as a Teamster member that could change a life for the better the driving school will be hosting an open house tomorrow at 11am.

These were sent to us by some of our most recent graduates of the ABF Freight Driver Development Program, Phil Turcotte and David Rousseau. It's a great feeling knowing that we played a part in training both of these recruits and that they are both working local for their respective service centers in NY and NH.

Our DOT nurse is in this Monday 5/2/2022 and there are a few spot still available. If you are in need of a physical send us a message to get put on the list. Appointments are only until 11 am and the cost is $90.00

Huge congrats to Alberto Taveras and Diego De La Cruz in successfully completing the training and obtaining their CDL-A licenses!
Pictured with the graduates is two of the new classes training under the new Entry Level Driver Training curriculum that rolled out April 4th. Everyone including the staff and director want to wish both of them nothing but the best in their new careers! Welcome to the Teamsters, brothers!

Earlier this week, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, President Joe Biden, and industry leaders met with the families of the trucking community.
Secretary Buttigieg conveyed just how critical the Trucking Action Plan is on recruiting more drivers and more importantly retaining them. The U.S. Department of Transportation and The White House is making it easier for veterans to enter the trucking workforce through partnering with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).

We couldn't be more prouder of the partnership that we have developed with ABF Freight training some of the most qualified Teamsters through the Driver Development Program here at the school. Both, Dave Rousseau out of NH and Phil Turcotte from NY will be taking their CDL road test this coming Monday. After certifying both of them through the ABF DDP road test today driving the very set of double pictured behind them, they should be coming home with a brand new CDL and a lifelong career at one of the best LTL carriers in the country next week. We want to wish both of them the best of luck on Monday. Determination and Dedication = Success!

The driving school will be really spreading our wings tomorrow.
We will be road testing with one of the trucks in North Kingstown and as far north as South Deerfield MA for the other. Special thanks to Paul Griff for taking the trek to Deerfield for one of our ABF trainees out of upsate New York, and Mike Mangione for heading south with two of our Real Jobs RI participants. This may literally be the first time in the schools history that we have had two different road test locations in the same day.

FMCSA Training Provider Registry
The Training Provider Registry is now fully operational and mandatory use is in effect.
Individuals seeking to apply for a Class A or Class B CDL for the first time, upgrade their Class B to a Class A CDL, or apply for a P, S, or H endorsement for the first time must now complete the training required by the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) regulations before being permitted to take the required skills or knowledge test.
Individuals seeking one of the licenses or endorsements above must use the Training Provider Registry to search for a registered training provider.
All entities that provide entry-level driver training must be registered in the Training Provider Registry and use it submit driver training certification records within two business days of a driver’s training completion.
