Special thanks to Brendan Kirby - WPRI and The Rhode Show for this fantastic segment! Watch Interim Principal Conductor Tania Miller, Conductor and Executive Director David Beauchesne discuss our 2022-2023 season and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School, plus a special viola lesson for Brendan with instructor Abby Magoon!
The week leading up to Opening Night of the RI Philharmonic Orchestra’s 78th season was full of exciting events!

Composer/Conductor Quinn Mason was in attendance for the Rhode Island premiere of his piece "A Joyous Trilogy." While here, he led the RI Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra in rehearsal of his composition "Toast of the Town" and met with students from Sophia Academy to discuss his successful career as a young composer.

In addition to his incredible performance of Elgar's Cello Concerto on Opening Night, cellist Sterling Elliott led a Chamber Music and Cello Masterclass for students at Brown University.

Finally, Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School instructor Abby Magoon gave host Brendan Kirby - WPRI a viola lesson for an upcoming segment on The Rhode Show.
The opportunity to meet composer/conductor Quinn Mason last week was incredibly special and inspiring to our whole school! Students, teachers, and friends of Sophia gathered Thursday morning to learn about Quinn's journey and philosophy, and were even treated to a special improvisational performance! Thank you Maestro for sharing your wisdom, and thank you to the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School for inviting us for this opportunity!
Tania Miller, Conductor will become Interim Principal Conductor for the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra and Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School, effective immediately. She will succeed Bramwell Tovey, who passed away last month at age 69.
Today is Giving Tuesday, an effort that inspires giving back to community organizations across the world.

Over the past quarter-century, CMW has been supported by and grown alongside a multitude of local non-profits. On this Giving Tuesday, we’d like to shed light on 25 organizations that have elevated our work with their partnership. Please consider sharing a gift with our extended community today!

Join our upcoming Suzuki Sampler class for ages 3-5 starting January 21! The Suzuki Method of teaching musical instruments to children has a long track record of success around the world. Part of the reason for the effectiveness of the method is that parents are directly involved in the teaching process by learning along with their children.

This class is for children and parents new to the Suzuki Method. Faculty members will introduce a different instrument each week—violin, piano and guitar—using games, other fun activities and hands-on demonstration.

We are proud to announce that on Saturday, September 17, 2022, the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra will pay tribute to America's iconic band The Beach Boys to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of the band performing for the largest concert audience EVER assembled in the history of the State of Rhode Island - over 40,000 fans in September 1977 at the Narragansett Park Race Track in Pawtucket, RI - a record that has never been broken.

Join us at 6:00 pm at Slater Park in Pawtucket, RI for RI Philharmonic Pops in the Park at Slater Park.

Music producer and historian Al Gomes of Big Noise will host an opening ceremony to our tribute and read statements from The Beach Boys. The City of Pawtucket, RI will receive an autographed copy of the original concert plaque signed by The Beach Boys to be put on display in City Hall. The stretch of street where the concert stage stood has been forever renamed as 'Beach Boys Way' - the first and only street dedicated to The Beach Boys in the world.

The Beach Boys have been the soundtrack of dozens of Academy Award films including "American Graffiti," "Almost Famous," "Forrest Gump," "The Big Chill," and "Fantastic Mr. Fox," which keeps with our night's theme of "A Night at The Oscars" with the performance of our 'Beach Boys Medley.'

Please join us for this historic moment in Rhode Island music history!
