Providence Country Day School

Providence Country Day School Established in 1923, PCD is a college-preparatory school serving students in grades PreK-12.

The Providence Country Day School offers a private college-preparatory education for PreK-12 graders. We are dedicated to inspiring lives of engaged citizenship, and living our core values every day enables us to fulfill this mission. While we are proud of the successful adults our students become, we are equally proud of the joy and inspiration they find along their journey, simply in coming toge

ther each day to talk, listen, study, play, try, fail, perform, win, lose, socialize, reflect, and start again. Here you will find a value system and community character in which high achievement is not attained at the expense of kindness and humanity. Founded in 1923, the school serves a diverse student population from more than 45 communities throughout southeastern New England. The educational program balances rigorous academics, visual and performing arts, and competitive athletics under the direction of a faculty that is distinguished by academic excellence and deep personal commitment.

The people behind the scenes who make it all happen.

All year long, our Facilities Team works hard to keep PCD running smoothly, our campus looking its best, and our spaces ready for our students, faculty, and families.

But the weeks leading up to a new school year are especially busy—and this team has been going above and beyond to get every corner of campus ready for our Knights to return next week. From preparing classrooms and common spaces to tackling the countless details that make a campus feel ready for a new year, their work is everywhere, even when it goes unnoticed.

We are so grateful for the care, dedication, and countless hours they put in—not just this time of year, but all year long.

Thank you for helping make PCD feel like home. ❤️

If shelter animals could write letters, what would they say? 🐾

Second graders at PCD put themselves in the paws of animals at the Providence Animal Shelter and wrote persuasive letters from their perspective. Through the voices of their animal characters, students practiced making a convincing argument while developing empathy and perspective-taking skills.

Young writers, big imaginations, and some very important messages. ❤️

What does it mean to be active, engaged, and known at PCD? 🏃‍♂️⚽

This Wednesday, we're revisiting Coach Callum and Lower School PE, where students learn more than skills and games. They learn to take risks, support one another, and feel confident as part of the PCD community.

A new home for the arts is coming to PCD! 🎭🎨🎶

This September, we’ll celebrate the opening of the Suzanne Young Murray Arts Center—a 12,000-square-foot facility bringing theater, visual arts, music, and creativity together under one roof. Featuring a 2,100-square-foot theater, 700-square-foot gallery, new arts classrooms, and a dedicated maker space, the Arts Center will open new possibilities for our students to create, collaborate, perform, and explore.

Join us for the ribbon cutting on Friday, September 18, at 11 a.m. outside the Arts Center’s main entrance as we celebrate this exciting new chapter for the arts at PCD.

🔍 Workshop Week Rewind

This summer, we're revisiting the experiences, discoveries, and adventures of Cross-Curricular Workshop Week and Middle School Investigations Week.

This week: Miniatures and Microscopy.

What happens when you look at the world a little bit closer—or make it a little bit smaller?

Students explored hidden worlds through microscopes, uncovering details in everyday objects, materials, and living things that are invisible to the naked eye. They also examined the history and artistry of miniatures, exploring how artists and makers have transformed the tiny into something extraordinary.

Then it was their turn to create. Students designed and built their own scale miniatures or recreated microscopic environments, turning their observations and ideas into miniature worlds of their own.

Sometimes, seeing the world differently starts with simply looking a little closer. 🔬✨

At PCD, our faculty do more than teach—they build relationships that last.

This Wednesday, we're revisiting Charles Kolie's story and the many ways he supports students as a teacher, advisor, coach, and mentor. It's this kind of connection that defines the PCD experience.
