Back to school means back to becoming. 💕

When we choose an activity for our children, we’re choosing more than something to put on the calendar.

We’re choosing where they’ll spend a little piece of their childhood.

Their afternoons matter.

Their coaches matter.

The places where they spend their time matter.

A few thoughts as we begin another year at RGA. 🐝

Five and six is a BIG age. 🐝

They're ready to do more on their own. Ready to be challenged. Ready to discover just how strong, brave and capable they can be.

Our School Age gymnastics classes are designed for exactly this stage—learning handstands, cartwheels, bars, beam and more while building confidence, independence and the courage to keep trying when something is hard.

Because we're teaching gymnastics.
But we're also teaching them how to fall, get back up, and try again.
That's More Than Cartwheels.

Fall classes are enrolling now at Renaissance Gymnastics Academy in East Providence.

Day 75/100.

Well, would you look at that.

My handstands are actually getting better. 😂

I didn’t start this because I wanted to perfect my handstand.

I wanted to move.
To play.
To get stronger.
To see what would happen if I just kept showing up.

Turns out, doing something five times a day for 75 days actually makes you better at it.

Who knew? 😉

75 days…375 handstands later.

Maybe progress really is that simple.

Not perfect.
Not all at once.

Just a little bit, over and over again.

Day 75/100. 🙃🐝

Day 72/100.

These two were gym besties.

They grew up together at RGA, graduated ten years ago, and today they came home to visit the gym — and Miss Jen.

And, of course, we went upside down together. 💕

She was four when we met.
Today she's nineteen.
Still training.
Still learning.
Now standing at the end of the beam, showing the next generation where to place their feet.
Somewhere in that line of little gymnasts is another future coach.
That's how a gym becomes a community.

Yesterday I shared that gymnastics has always been the place I run to.
Today, I found myself looking at the backpacks.
One day they'll be college bags.
Work bags.
Travel bags.
Maybe even diaper bags.
That's the privilege of coaching for a lifetime.
You don't just watch children learn gymnastics.
You get to watch them grow up.
My hope is that wherever life takes them...
RGA will always be a place they know they can come back to.

Sometimes people ask me why I've stayed in gymnastics for so long.
The truth?
I don't think I stayed.
I think I kept coming home.
