Don't forget - the Henry Barnard School Facebook and Instagram accounts will no longer be active beginning this Wednesday - January 1, 2025. Instead, Lower School content will be posted exclusively on the Providence Country Day School social media accounts. This is being done in the interest of school unity and to ensure that the entire PCD community can see all the incredible work our Lower School students and teachers do.
All HBS accounts will remain visible, so you will continue to have access to all the great photos and videos we've posted over the years. If you don't already, we hope you will follow us at Providence Country Day School, so you can not only see what's happening in the Henry Barnard Lower School, but across all divisions of PCD, including a new weekly Lower School spotlight - beginning next week.

As part of their studies of the human body, Ms. Waring's second-grade class created life-sized displays of the body's digestive system. The students then had the opportunity to present their displays to the rest of the Lower School as well as some Middle School students. What a fantastic way to blend science, art, and public speaking skills!

There are so many ways our teachers make learning fun for their students! In kindergarten, Ms. Stanton's class spent the last few weeks learning about holidays around the world. The students learned about the holiday traditions of more than a dozen countries and regions - getting their passport stamped and creating fun souvenirs that represent cultural traditions.

(K)night Classes are returning this January with TWO sessions of Adult Pottery! Join us either Tuesdays or Thursdays for this four week course - open to all levels, ages 18 and up. Students will learn techniques for making mugs, vases, and bowls, including surface design and glazing.
This is a great opportunity for beginners or as a refresher for experienced potters. The cost of the course is $180 and all materials and firing are provided. Classes are taught by Jennifer Thayer Karl, PCD art teacher and professional potter, in PCD's Art studio. Students will create approximately 4 to 6 pieces to keep or give as a gift. Come join the fun! Don't delay - these classes sold out quickly this fall!

Today, we're giving a special shout out to third graders Azlan and Lucius and fourth grader April, who helped organize a toy drive this month to benefit the Seekonk Food Pantry. Lower School families helped fill our collection bin with so many new, unwrapped toys to make the season brighter for local children and families. Thank you to everyone who supported this initiative for your continued generosity and for helping us make this a meaningful season of giving!

Before the start of Winter Break, a few Upper School advisory groups stopped by the Lower School for some fun winter crafts. They made snowflakes with Ms. Orton's PreK class and drew with Ms. Cote's third grade class. What a fun way to wrap up 2024!
