We've recently started creating short compilations featuring some of the best moments from the animated films made by students at Mr. David's School of Film! 🎬✨

While we'd love to upload every animation our students create, these animated collections showcase the incredible range of creativity, storytelling, and artistic talent we're seeing in both our camps and our school residencies with Arts For Learning NW across Oregon.

From funny characters to imaginative worlds, these clips highlight just a small sample of what our young filmmakers are bringing to life.

🎥 Check out our *Animated Bits* playlist on our YouTube channel and see what our students have been creating!

Last night at 1am, I finished editing a 17-minute collection of stop-motion films made by three classes of 1st graders from Alameda Elementary School.

These are some of my favorite films I have made. They show so much personality, creativity, and joy from the students. I also love how we were able to connect the projects to the curriculum while still giving students the freedom to tell the stories they wanted to tell.
It was a labor of love, but I am so proud of the work they did. Animating with 1st graders is no easy feat, and I was lucky to work with a great team, including a bunch of parent volunteers and three different substitute teachers who filled in for the classroom teachers (Go SUBS!).
Arts education is so important, and as we continue to cut FTEs for our beloved art teachers in the district, it is even more important for us to remember that.
While you might not have the patience to watch all 17 minutes, I do recommend watching at least a few of them. They are so silly, goofy, and full of joy, something that feels so missing in our world of AI-generated and highly scripted content.
Stay animated, my friends!
