Going deep thinking about typography and this surfaced.

Hello.

Hi is short, sweet, a punctuation
It is friendly, an upside-down exclamation

Hello is formal, courteous,
rounded and generous

Either way, it begins with H
A symmetrical form, a sturdy gate

Hello is a beautiful word
H’s fan club l’s visually mimic her

On either side, round e and o
Visual rhythm like oars that row

Hello is beautiful in meaning
Its appearance is pleasing

Typeface? it matters not
But in Comic Sans font?

p.s.
Hello in Garamond is especially nice
But the sans serif Univers is my vice

Two charging stations: If you have an electric vehicle and need to charge it, which charger would you want to use? One with a tangle of cables, or one with a single cable.

See how the veins in this magnolia leaf are aligned along the midrib, the centerline of the leaf? In nature and in our own designed world, things function more efficiently when alignment is used. There’s always an opportunity to use alignment:

· When you have 20 kids in a classroom all wanting to go on recess—get them aligned! Everyone will be much calmer for it (and the teacher saner).
· When you’re cooking a 15 ingredient recipe, align your spices so you can prepare the food more efficiently.
· When you’re adding a deck to the back of your house, align the edges of the deck to the part of the house that makes sense and looks balanced (more on balance later).

What is DesignAide? A collection of the things we use the most when designing, researched by me, published in my book and taught to middle/high school students.

Who is it for?
Students, entrepreneurs, small businesses, any non-designer that wants their projects to appear more professional.

Why use it?
Because it is simple to learn and greatly improves your skills in visual design. Over time you’ll design better and notice more about design (and lack of design) around you.

What types of projects will it help you design?
The most common design projects non-designers are faced with: simple layouts for ads, slide presentations, Instagram posts and stories, business signage, posters and tri-fold tabletop displays for school projects, presentations with charts, photos and text. This is not a template offering, it is not a quick fix for making things beautiful. It is a selection of design vocabulary specific to your needs, not too much to overwhelm, but just enough to help you learn the basics.
