East Orange Family Success Center serves as a starting point to help families thrive by working with families who are in need of a variety of family centered supports. The staff maintains a steady flow of services, information and partnerships to help families find the resources they need to become self-sufficient. All services and workshops are free.

A wonderful moment of expanding food access and supporting the health of our community.

Through our partnership with Rutgers EFNEP EFNEP Essex County, Rutgers Cooperative Extension , Nourished Neighbors is continuing to expand opportunities that connect our community with fresh food, nutrition education, wellness with our Food Prescription programming.

This work is about more than providing food. It’s about creating meaningful connections between food, health, and the resources that help individuals and families thrive. This session the participants enjoyed healthy taco bowls with a healthier plate options.

We’re grateful for partnerships that allow us to continue growing our offerings and bringing food systems work directly into the communities we serve.

We’re excited to share a look back at our first Farmers Harvest distribution in Passaic County, hosted in partnership with New Destiny Family Success Center New Destiny FSC.

We’re excited to announce a wonderful new experience for Nourished Neighbors, in partnership with A Better Market A BETTER MARKET, Green Arce Green Acre Community Garden and Oh So Veggies and Moore So’Veggies & Moore!

As part of our Food Prescription component, Nourished Neighbors is bringing nutrition education to life through live cooking demonstrations, tastings, and meaningful food experiences for Passaic County residents and community members.

Join us for a special live cooking demonstration and tasting led by Chef Joseph Moore, a food justice advocate, plant forward chef, and community educator. We’re grateful to Chef Joseph Moore for sharing his culinary expertise and experience with our community.

Today, we proudly celebrate National Farm Worker Appreciation Day and National Farmers Market Week, recognizing the farmers, farmworkers, growers, and community leaders whose work strengthens local food systems and nourishes our communities.

Today also marks an exciting milestone for the Nourished Neighbors team. We are proud to share that Nickey Watson and I have earned our Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Essex County Rutgers Master Gardener Certification as members of the largest Afro Indigenous in Urban Agriculture cohort in the program's 2026 class.

As growers/urban farmers serving the City of Newark, as a second generation farmer for me, this achievement reflects our continued investment in the knowledge, skills, and stewardship needed to advance social sustainability, promote healthy eating, and strengthen equitable food systems for the communities we serve.

We are deeply grateful to the women in agriculture whose advocacy expanded opportunities for Afro Indigenous leaders in urban agriculture. Thank you to our Rutgers Master Gardener Coordinator, Roxanna and to Claudia, our Urban Agriculture County Agent, for your leadership, mentorship, and commitment to growing the next generation of community leaders.

We are honored to be part of this historic cohort and look forward to continuing to cultivate healthier communities through education, agriculture, and service.

On July 16, 2026, we proudly celebrated the launch of Nourished Neighbors at Lou Costello Memorial Park in Passaic County, NJ, in partnership with New Destiny Family Success Center New Destiny FSC.

We are deeply grateful to the entire New Destiny Family Success Center team, our vendor A Better Market A BETTER MARKET our community collaborators and partners, our dedicated volunteers, the Nourished Neighbors team, and every community member who joined us to make this launch a success. Your support, collaboration, and commitment to the well-being of Passaic County helped make this a meaningful and memorable day.
